My Actifit Report Card: October 4 2026

Memories—the ability to retain information and avoid forgetfulness—play a vital role in our lives. We often take this for granted simply because we usually remember things.

However, there are times when we get distracted from the task at hand and shift our focus to something else. This is known as the "diversion of the task at hand."

It doesn't mean we’ve forgotten the original task entirely; it’s just that it slips our minds at that specific moment. Every friend group has that one person who is notoriously forgetful.

In my group, that person is me. I’m not chronically forgetful, but I often fail to recall things at the right moment—only remembering them later when they are no longer needed. Let me give you an example.

Years ago, while I was job-hunting in Bangalore, a friend of mine was working in the North. He needed to send something to a colleague who was visiting Bangalore, so I agreed to pick it up and hand it over.

Everything went smoothly. A year later, I ran into that same friend back in our hometown. While chatting, he gave me a phone number—only to find it was already saved in my contacts.

It wasn't saved under a name, though; it was listed as "His Friend Who Came to Bangalore That Day." When asked why I had saved it that way, I had no answer. I simply didn't remember the details at the time.

About five years later, it suddenly occurred to me—"Hey, maybe in the confusion that day, I saved your number under his name?" He just laughed and said, "Did it really take you all this time to realize that?" I just said, "Well, nothing can be done about it now," and we said goodbye.

That’s when I realized I’m not actually forgetful; it’s just that, in the heat of the moment, certain things simply don't come to mind. That memory has stayed imprinted in my mind as a unique experience.

As for today—morning walk, a meal, playing with the kids, and then catching the night bus to our head office town; that’s pretty much it.
