In my opinion, people who fall asleep the moment they lie down are truly fortunate; it takes a great deal of good fortune to sleep so easily. Speaking for myself, however, once I lie down, I don't get up, and once I'm up, I don't lie down again—that’s just the habit I’ve developed.
Yet, at times, I wonder if I’m suffering from sleep deprivation. I suspect there might be another reason for this: ever since a superior reprimanded me a few weeks ago for poor performance at work, my sleep has been severely disrupted.
I believe I’m unable to sleep properly because those incidents keep playing on my mind, even in my dreams. You know how I mentioned traveling to our head office for an audit? Well, I have to make that overnight journey again this Sunday for a different audit.
Although the audit is scheduled for Monday, I have to leave Sunday night to arrive there by Monday morning, given the distance. Instead of refusing or saying I can't make the trip like I used to, I’ve started simply agreeing and going whenever my superiors ask.
This marks the second time in two weeks that I’m traveling for an audit. Honestly, I feel it would be far more convenient if the auditors came here instead of summoning us all the way there; after all, every document and piece of information they require is readily available to us right here.
It is convenient in that if I forget to bring something along—or if I simply don't have it with me—I can have it sent over from the office where I work. It makes things very flexible. However, people don't really let that happen easily, even though it would make life so much simpler.
Lately, though, my workload at the office has been piling up; I have responsibilities at both the range and division levels. Sometimes, I feel like the burden is becoming too heavy for me to handle.
I occasionally consider taking leave—perhaps for three months. But given my current financial situation—where I rely on my monthly salary just to get by—going without pay for three months would be disastrous, so I keep going to work.
Still, I keep telling myself that I will definitely take leave at some point, for at least a couple of months.
As for today, I wrapped up the day with my morning walk, getting ready for the office, meals, work, and finally, sleep. Come to think of it, I seem to have been going for a walk every morning lately.
