SPLINTERLANDS SOCIAL MEDIA CHALLENGE (IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT SPEED)

If you have read my previous social media challenge posts you will agree that I have always emphasized the need for speed which by the way, I still do. But then I have come to realize that speed is more than that swiftness when it comes to splinterlands abilities, there is also the part of opportunity ability. Talking about learning everyday, I’ve learned how disastrous the opportunity ability can be when mixed with speed and I learned this after I reviewed the strategy my opponent used on me.

I was almost sure I won the game after setting up my cards and after watching the first round of the game, seeing how fast my cards were moving on my opponent, I decided to hit the skip button with the expectation of seeing my win result only to be shocked with a loss. Out of curiosity I went back to check how the hell that happened and to my surprise I was amazed at the lesson I learned from that loss that speed isn’t everything and the opportunity ability can be very deadly at a bit of a fast pace.

Monsters with opportunity ability usually have at least 3 speed (The ones I’ve seen) and that makes them easily amplify their abilities especially for those gladiator cards with bloodshot abilities. This makes them very deadly, even more deadly with monsters with ranged ability. Now understand that monsters with opportunity abilities can attack from any position, and their added abilities makes them more dangerous. If you watch the game you will notice that the rule set gave all monsters the blast ability, and at that time I utilized it to the best of my knowledge.

Battle Link

Putting one of my favorite monsters Diemonshark in first position, and then I added two monsters with Reflector shield abilities in second and fourth positions just to keep monsters alive in case my opponents attacked in between. But then My opponent replied with a strategy I hadn’t seen until recently, which was first using a monster that is hard to kill in first position, using two monsters with the opportunity ability with one being a gladiator card with bloodshot ability, one monster with the scavenger ability and then a flying monster which clearly outmatched my strategy. I was winning until I met a monster with bloodshot ability and behind it a scavenger.
