So, I lost My keys

I don’t even know where to start, but I’m so excited. The kind of excitement that overwhelms you to the core and makes you start crying. Except that I’m not crying. And let me just satisfy your curiosity: I wasn’t scammed or hacked or anything. Okay, let me just start.

So somewhere in February, I traveled to Kumasi, and during that time, my phone was having certain technological issues. The main one was the screen. I decided to just get it fixed, but it was still giving me the same problems.

So I decided to transfer everything from my phone to my tablet and then just sell my phone. I transferred everything from the phone to the tablet and erased all data from the phone. This happened right after I left Kumasi. I had to go back again after some days, and then I forgot my tablet at home, which I paid for dearly. Because at this point, the tablet was my phone.

Now since I didn’t have any device with me, I couldn’t blog. I couldn’t do anything I used to do with my phone. And nobody could even reach me. Anyone that tried to reach me during that period probably reached a dead end.

So fast forward, I finished what I had to do in Kumasi and then came back home. That’s when my nightmare began. I got home and found out my brother came for the tablet. And he couldn’t reach me, so he didn’t ask. He took it away, and for some reason, which I still don’t know, he erased the data on the tablet.

When I heard that, my heart started beating so fast. And my head started aching because all I could think of was my Hive keys, which I had saved on the device. We searched everywhere for the keys and couldn’t find them. We downloaded so many apps that claim to restore deleted items. Just found out they are useless, by the way.

From the ending of February, all I’ve been doing is to search for my keys. So back to my phone, I got a new phone and then even tried to see if I could get my keys. I searched through my iCloud, emails, and so many things. Turns out I never saved it anywhere where it can be accessed with the internet.

So just yesterday, I had to do something on my laptop. And the thing with my laptop is that I’ve actually abandoned it. Anyone who knows me knows how much I do not like using my laptop. But yesterday, I had no option. I went for it to go through certain things and just saw the thing I’ve been looking for all this while—my keys.

I was stuck for a moment and then quickly used the keys to log in. And guys!!! I was in. I was so excited that I started dancing because of the way I’ve been so stressed over the search for my keys. I’m so glad I didn’t give up. So glad because it paid off. I don’t even know how my keys got saved on my laptop, but I’m glad they did.

I’m also grateful to all those who kept checking up on me when they couldn’t see me here. Someone was like, "It's so weird not to see the active and inactive." It was weird for me too. All I could do was just scroll through blogs each and every day. I know I could have created a new account, but knowing myself, I knew that would mean I want to give up on the old one. I’m just glad everything turned around for my good.

I am so glad you founds your Keys! I recommend putting them on a "flash drive" / "thumb drive" as a backup plan. And since all hardware can fail, multiple drives is best! You can get them with password protection so no one else can read the data. I have my Keys saved to maybe eight of those things, because I had one fail a few years ago and it would not work, so I play it extra-safe! 😂

So at the end of the day, what you were looking for in sokoto was inside your shokoto...

I hope you have saved your keys now and back them up on cloud...

But NOT Google Cloud — that has been hacked so many times and several Hiveans have had their accounts stolen that way.

So happy it all worked out!
