From Burnout To Balance

When the year started, I used to always complain about how 24 hours a day was not enough and I remember someone telling me I was the problem. I was the problem as in I didn’t know how to manage my time. I disagreed in all angles because it didn’t sit well with me.

Today, I’m so proud of how far I’ve come with managing my time. In fact, I think I’ll admit to what the person said about me not being able to manage my time. Because if I look back at what I was doing compared to now, I’m just happy that I changed.

I’ve read a lot about procrastination and at a point, I thought that was my problem but I realized I was far away from that. You know what my problem was? I wasn’t taking breaks. Yes! I know it sounds weird because not taking breaks should even be the one to help me do a lot of things.

Well, I thought same until I realized that not taking breaks was rather affecting my productivity. I would always be tired and sometimes even break down. There were days I would work so hard but couldn’t point to any tangible progress. And that was because most of things I was working on weren’t complete.

I would mostly just work in circles. How do I even explain this? It’s like working on the same thing for so long and then even forgetting the reason why you are working on it or the main goal behind your project.

After finding out that was my problem, I didn’t even think twice. I just fixed it as soon as I could. I started making sure to take frequent breaks to help me rejuvenate myself from stress. And it started like a joke because I wasn’t really seeing the results, but I later saw how significant those breaks were on my work life. Eventually, I was able to be very productive and even have enough time for myself.

We should try our maximum best to manage our 24 hours well because it’s more than enough. Just sit down and reflect on how you manage your time. Do you procrastinate a lot? Do you not take frequent breaks like I was doing? Whatever it is, just fix it and see how well you’ll be able to do all that you have to do.

Working in circles 😂.never heard that one

Anyways after reading this I think I need to reflect on how I manage my time because I often procrastinate tooooo much when it comes to works that aren't my priority, and sometimes even important stuff.

You made a perfect point here, time management is very important for progress and success in life because when one stops procrastinating and do what they are supposed to do, then you will see everything going smoothly. Thank you for sharing @abenad

Lol that working in circles eh??? It's common with hardworkers not smart one and I was a victim. Infact recently I worked into the night and denied my body sleep. I was done working and decided to turn off the light so I could get a shut eye. That was how daughter of the most high started going around in circles. I was literally turning around at a spot lol 😂. Or was it yesterday I was so exhausted that I spent the whole day trying to come up with 10 lines write up? God abeg 😂🤲

Taking a break and relieving yourself off some duties can change alot about your day.
I have learnt to take a break most times and just rest when necessary, the body really needs it.

And you return to work after such breaks, you would be proactive.

Thanks for sharing.
