It's been more than a week since I painted anything. I've been sick for the past days, but now I'm much better. I still have a cough, but it's tolerable and I'm planning to get back to work from tomorrow. :)
Because of that, I decided to use this free time to create something... and I chose to make this.
It's a samurai trying to meditate under the cherry blossom tree. It's actually one of the prompts that I shared on my alt account last night. I usually make an initial sketch before painting, but I kind of wanted to paint such an image, and so I did.
Anyway, this was created using poster paint on a 10 x 10cm watercolor paper. Now, let me show you the whole process. :)
I started with the prepping of the watercolor paper, then lightly sketching a draft using an HB pencil. But, I wanted to add details, so I used a 2B pencil for it, then lightly erased it using a kneading eraser.
After sketching, I started painting over it. I started with the green and blue background. There are different shades of green for the grass field and sky blue for the sky.
I then colored the trees, varying their color according to distance. I also mixed the remaining colors from the background and used them for the samurai's clothes. I just mixed in the remaining brown paint from the trees with white for the samurai's skin.
Using a 00000 detailer brush, I slowly outlined the samurai. Obviously, my hand was shaky, plus the occasional coughing didn't help at all. So yeah, don't mind the weird hand. XD
I also added some detailing on his sword... and yeah, that's the sword cover, it just looks shiny. hahaha
Finally, I did the flowers. I started with white paint, then pink... before adding a darker shade of pink to give it a more detailed look.
After finalizing the painting, I added the usual username, signature and the date today at the corner using a pen. Now, all that's left is to take off the masking tape surrounding it and take photos from different angles.
Here they are! (^^,)/
I actually like how it turned out. (Except the hands, but I'll work on that more... especially when I paint really tiny ones like this). Anyway, it looked so calming, and I had fun making it.
I also took a selfie with this artwork of mine. It's so tiny compared to the A4 watercolor pad I used to paint on in the past. I still haven't opened this one, so in the future, I'll be making bigger paintings again. Maybe when I have more art materials and more time to just sit down and do so.
I'm still trying to fill in the art wall in my room with tiny paintings, so until then, I'll be painting more of smaller ones like this.
It was a nice art session before getting back to work tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I had fun creating it. Thanks for checking this post and see you around! (^^,)/
