I had a wonderful weekend. I have been living in Alberta for more than 1 year but am the only one here that didn't visit Banff National Park until now. So we decided to go there on Friday and Stay overnight around. The plan was to drive directly to the Lake Louise Ski Resort where a friend of mine told me to get a shuttle to the Lake Louise, the main attraction of the national park since the parking lot is usually very busy during this time. It is a cold place so many people visit during the warm days, June to September. Also, You can notice very different prices during this high season. I cheap hotel 2 stars is around 300 CAD per night. During October for example, you can find a good 3 stars around 150 CAD per night. Initially, I wanted to book for October but my wife doesn't like to go outdoors much during cold times.
My friend told me about the shuttles to the lake early last week, but I took a bit of time to book it and they were all booked. It costs around 10 CAD per adult. My only option was to book a double-decker bus for 42 CAD per adult and kid over 6 years old. However, it was good that it goes to Lake Louise and Lake Moraine, another beautiful attraction you can't reach with your car, only with licensed shuttles/buses or walking. We left home around 9 AM, the distance to the ski resort is 393 KM from my home, around 4h. We decided to stop in Calgary for lunch around 11:30. Our reservation for the double-decker was at 3 PM. We stopped at Treasure of Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant with very nice and cheap food. We left the restaurant around 12:30 PM we still had 2 more hours of driving.
During the driving you start entering the Rockie's region, the first big city is Kanaskis and then Canmore. I little bit after Canmore you have the entrance to the National Park, which costs 10.50 CAD per adult, while kids don't pay. After 10 minutes of the entrance, you find the city of Banff. You drive an extra 43 minutes to get to the ski resort. We arrived there around 2:30. The weather was cloudy with rain throughout the day. I stayed on the second floor on the bus and it was chilly. I was wearing shorts and short sleeves shirt. During the 15-minute drive between the ski resort and the lake, I could take nice pictures, such as the first one in this post and the one below.

Lake Louise is indeed beautiful, however, there isn't much to explore, it has also a hotel, an expensive hotel that you can stay if you can afford it. We got there and stayed 20 minutes maybe? Then we got the bus again for the next stop, Lake Moraine.
We went to the next stop, Lake Moraine, about 20 minutes from Lake Louise. There they have a hiking spot where you can go up to the rocks and take beautiful shots, around 300 meters of hiking. Easy hiking which only sedentary people will complain about. Also, there is a hike inside the woods that people recommend going in a group of 4 at least to avoid grizzly bears' attack. We took some photoshoots after hiking and then went to take some photoshoots at the lake level. They also have a hotel there, a restaurant already closed to visitors, and a gift shop. We went back to the ski resort in the last double-decker bus of the day at 5 pm.
We were tired and hungry, we drove an extra hour to Canmore, where we would sleep to find a restaurant. It was around 6:30 all restaurants were full of people. So we found a seafood place called The Drunken Lobster Oyster Bar. There I could eat some seafood which I missed a lot from when I lived in Atlantic Canada. I ate some oysters and a grilled salmon with vegetables and of course a beer. My wife ordered a seafood linguini with lobster included. One of my daughters ate a nice shrimp sandwich. All Yummi. We left for the hotel called Pocaterra Inn and Waterslide. A very nice hotel, pitty that we had only one night, it cost around 350 CAD, a high season price with breakfast included and a pool with waterslide. We decided to let the kids play in the pool the next morning after the wonderful breakfast with waffles, eggs, bacon, and other things. I booked the gondola at the ski resort for 3 PM, it goes up to the mountain and is used during the winter to go skiing. But during the summer we can still use it to get nice views. We decided to go to Banff city to walk a bit and have lunch in there.
Tudo estava delicioso.
Partimos para o hotel chamado Pocaterra Inn and Waterslide.
We didn't have much time in Banff since the gondola reservation at 3 pm was closer, we regretted it a bit because the city has nice interesting things to see, such as a beautiful garden and a city tour horse. We ate in a nice burger place and headed to the ski resort again.
We arrived in time to get the gondola, which cost 60 CAD per adult and 13 CAD for kids over 6 years old. It is so bad that my oldest daughter pays for all this stuff. They have two options, closed gondola or opened. We all went in the closed one on the way up. But on the way down, my oldest and I went in the open one. Up there we have a good view and we can even see Lake Louise from afar. There is also an educative center after a short hiking trail of 10 minutes. Where my youngest just got crazy with all the animals there that we can find in the Rockies.
After that, we went down and took an ice cream in the restaurant near the ski resort, which was bad for the price and not many options. We headed to Calgary on our way back after that to have supper in there. We arrived at home late night around 11:30 pm with all kids sleeping in the car. It is a beautiful place but I think we need more time to explore more lakes and hiking trails and visit more Banff.

Man que lugar lindo!
Cold but you're wearing only shorts and short sleeve shirt! I could feel the coldness from here. 😄
The view of the lakes is so nice! It's so calm and relaxing as I keep staring at it in your photos. I guess I would be mesmerized more if I was there.
Open and closed gondola? Woah, that sounds cool but I think I would be too scared to ride the opened ones. 😄
Hahahaha well it was cold for an early summer day but when it rained I had a rain jacket at least ;)
It was around 10oC so still could be able to use short sleeves without getting bad! Yeah, I would admit that the opened gondola was with a bit more emotion! At least they had support where you can put your fits in there. There is a ride in Disney World that is like a gondola but there isn't that support so I was scared about my shoes falling down lol . Thanks for the comment! I know that Japan and other places in Asia have lots of unique places like that! I saw some of your posts already =p.

10C is cold! But well, at least you had the rain jacket or else it will be too cold for you. 😄
Yeah there are many gondolas here, but the opened ones I haven’t tried yet. That’s usually reserved for skiing or snowboarding people during winter. Dunno for summer. They don’t really open for summer, that’s what I know. But I could be wrong.
Disney? I thought since they’re kinda popular they should have at least some other kind of more safety features, but well, maybe that was designed for the ride.
