Is Insurance Truly Protection or Just a Business Scheme?

Insurance is often painted like a great thing and what everyone needs during an unexpected significant event, and I must say I myself was drawn to it right from when I was little, all thanks to all the numerous ads they run on TV. However, a lot of people have raised eyebrows on the effectiveness of insurance, wanting to ascertain if it's actually really effective or just a way for big organizations to milk us of our money, because insurance, as we know, is a form of protection we pay for to get for different aspects of our lives. We know we've got different types of insurance, like life insurance, health insurance, car insurance, and much more. Anyways, below I'll be stating my opinion on it.

My experience with health insurance changed my perspective on insurance generally, and I'm sure you'll be wondering why. Well, it turns out that even though I have health insurance, it's quite annoying that those put in charge of handling people with insurance have no respect for people with insurance; to them, you're just another guy who won't let them lay their hands on hard currency, and you're just another person that they can look down on and use as an opportunity to loot the system. I know I might sound complicated, but it's the truth. As an HMO beneficiary, I expect to get myself treated whenever I'm ill, but you'll be surprised to learn that on most occasions you'll be told your insurance doesn't cover the majority of the illnesses we've got out there.

So, to that end, since I've explained what insurance is to the best of my knowledge, I believe I can start by answering the questions asked in the prompt. Firstly, to answer the inquiry on if I'm on any form of insurance or another. I'd like to say yes, I actually have a form of insurance running presently, although it's not like I have a choice or say on if I like having that insurance or not, because my employer actually has it as a standard procedure for all their employees. I'm sure you'll be wondering what type of insurance it is; well, it's one of the most common ones, which is health insurance.

Health insurance, like most people would call it, HMO, is a kind of insurance that helps you cover the bill in case of a medical emergency or situation. When I first heard about health insurance, I must confess that I actually thought it was something cool and a great way to insure not just your life but also your well-being. I used to imagine health insurance to be a gold mine that helps solve more of our health challenges and the burden that comes from having to spend a lot on getting yourself treated, but since I got health insurance, I must say that the reality that dawned on me is the complete opposite of what I daydreamed about regarding it.

It's actually annoying when you're under health insurance and you still need to pay to see a doctor, pay to have a test run on you, and, the most corrupt part of it all, pay to get medicine that's supposed to be free. To make matters worse, if you're given an authorization code that will help you get all the medicine for free, the pharmacy in the hospital will then suddenly remember they don't have the majority of the prescriptions you're holding, but if you come without an HMO-branded prescription, then you'll know they actually have the medicine, but hold it and maybe take it to their own personal pharmacy to be sold there, because your HMO prescription already gave them permission to take it out.

It's a fraudulent practice I've observed for years, and believe me, I really wish I could opt out of this health insurance, because every single month I see part of my wages being automatically removed to sustain the insurance, but at the end of the month I'm barely able to enjoy treatment that's up to half of what was deducted. That's why I said insurance is a fraudulent practice that's aimed at taking money from us without them fulfilling their side of the bargain, and that's why you hear different excuses from all types of insurance companies when it's time to cover for your loss.

This is so true, I've heard of cases of people experiencing delay in claiming what's there's or even trying to opt out, that's when they start showing your various terms and conditions.

This country on its own is something else entirely, so sorry part of your salary keeps going into something you're not benefitting from.

Thanks for sharing.

In Italy people have many problems with insurances as you mostly health insurances, we must read well the insurance contract I made one for my house but I read the contract wisely with a lawyer.

I feel it is your company that is the cause of this, they should stop deducting your money if they can’t do it well… I have seen some people who enjoyed their own through their company. A good example is my sister’s husband, whenever he is sick or any of his family is sick, his company pays for it.
