"First aid box is the treatment given to an individual before the arrival of a doctor or being taken to the hospital."
I don't think there's anyone who wasn't taught this in primary school, even up to secondary school. The purpose is to be able to save someone in an emergency before being taken to the hospital for proper treatment.
First aid treatment is a lifesaver, absolutely. For instance, an individual who fell and injured himself with blood gushing out from his or her leg would need to be attended to first by using some tools in the first aid box to stop the bleeding and apply some ointment to relieve him or her from the pain. Sometimes, using first aid treatment alone is helpful without the need to go to the hospital.
It's always advisable to have a full kit of first aid treatment at home because we never know what might happen, especially with children around. Kids are easily hurt by objects around the house or when playing outdoors. As an adult, it's very important to know how to treat such a kid first before the next process.
Unfortunately, I don't have much knowledge of first aid treatment, but I have seen it countless times where it was used on an individual to stop bleeding or save them when they got drowned in the water or had a heart attack, with a process called CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
CPR is an emergency treatment that can help save a life. I haven't done this before, or maybe because I haven't been in such a situation where I could practice it. Even at that, I don't have a strong mind when it comes to serious situations like that, and I don't know how I might feel when I am left to perform CPR on someone to save their life.
I believe someone not trained cannot do CPR, especially knowing what to do at that point. There are times one would have to put their mouth in a person's mouth or nose, then do the hands only by pressing their heart harder to resuscitate them. I watch this mostly in movies, and I get surprised at such a level of knowledge to know what to do at the right time. Something I wouldn't be able to do, but I can scream for help. Lol
Growing up, I was only taught to use mentholated spirit or shea butter on a wound, even mine, and that has always been my way of helping save a life before the arrival of a doctor. I can also help in sprinkling water if needed or assist with necessary things to keep an individual from danger.
There are instances where I have helped to clean wounds with cotton wool and apply either spirit, iodine or shea butter, and it makes me glad to do that. During my youth service, I was at home that morning, and I decided to check on a woman who had four kids with her. As I got to her place, I noticed one of the boys had a deep cut on his forehead. I got worried and asked what she had applied to it. She mentioned something I can't remember, but I decided to give her shea butter, and it helped relieve the pain he was going through. She requested more, which I gave to her.
Shea butter has been one way I treat wounds, and the purpose is to stop the bleeding, relieve pain and dry the wound even before the next day. I always have this ready at home in case of anything, and aside from that, there are the common drugs I don't miss having, i.e, paracetamol because it also helps relieve pain in the body, especially when you are experiencing headache, running temperature or stress.
It's important to have the full first aid box treatment at home, and having the knowledge of when to use it is crucial, too. I know how important this is, and I hope to understand more about it in case any emergency happens around me.

Aww, our princess is quite knowledgeable in first aid.
I was told the same thing growing up, but after joining the Nigerian Red Cross, I saw that most of the things we do when we have a wound could endanger our lives, like putting things we are not sure of on the wound. It can lead to infection, which is why, as a first aider, if someone is injured, don't add anything like sand to stop the bleeding; it might infect the wound.
Also, mentholated spirit is no longer used, and it has been written out not to be in the first Aid box again, because the aim of a first aider is to reduce pain, and that causes pain; there is a new one that has been introduced. I think hydrogen peroxide. It disinfects wounds without causing pain. Then they can use a gauze bandage to stop the bleeding. It is said that the mentholated spirit can cause other damage because of the pain, if there is no hydrogen peroxide, its better to use clean water to wash the wound off.
Also, a first aider should not give drugs to anyone, but if its for personal use, that's fine. Having first aid box at home is very good and every parents should have the knowledge on how to administer it.

People add sand to wound? That's weird! Oh, you said well. Though mentholated spirit is good but the pain it caused can lead to something else, too. Thanks for this eye opener.
You are welcome princess.

First aid knowledge is truly lifesaving. Even small actions like cleaning wounds or CPR can make the biggest difference.
Yeah, they can make a big difference.
Indeed, it is a life saving skill.

It's my pleasure. Thanks for reading, too.

I agree with you that we need training to do CRP because we need experience in it but i never use shea butter to treating wounds as i need ointment for it.

Yeah, training is important to have the knowledge.
Thank you, pandex.
I think all of us read about the First Aid since primary school but in most cases we didn't practice it and I think it should be taught by giving practical way of teaching because it's the most effective way.
You are right. We were only taught the theory and not how it should be used which made many of us not take it serious, I think.
Yea, it's very important to own a first aid box, we really can't tell when an emergency situation will occur.
