I've not had a real experience of finding a new home to live in as I do have people who do that for me long before I'm even aware, my dad actually. The only time I got close to finding my own place to stay was when I got admission into a university in another state. My mum played the bigger role in finding a comfortable place to stay.
I remember how lucky we were to meet a house agent who just knew the perfect new place for me to stay for my studies and the amount was not so bad, at the time of payment lol. It was over a year later I found out I was living in quite an expensive apartment but I still think it was worth it for the peace of mind and no fear for robbery.
But from others experience and stories, I think I have better understanding of what to look out for when I have to find my own home and I can advice others on it too. It's quite a difficult one to find the right place to call home, even house builders take their time to decide how it should look to make it comfortable and safe for them.
I think I've once read a post of how someone complained about finding a home that turn out to be disaster after living in it for a short while. The possibility of a beautiful place turning out bad and an ugly place turning out good is always there but having the right guide on the essentials to look out for is good way out of wrong choices.
For me, I have quite a high standard on how I would want my new place to be like and feel like, including how my neighbours should be like. Although these things can't be fully controlled by humans but to an extent, it's possible to get close to what we want when the right choices are made after many factors considered from start.
One of the factors to consider is the location of the place, one can go about to ask people how it is like living in such an area. I know of people who had to change their choices after confirming from more than five persons that the selected area has a lot of problems. It is not an easy stage but this helps a lot in making the right choices.
Knowing my country, finding houses during the rainy season will do a lot more good than in the dry season because there is the case of people having their houses flooded with water when it rains often. A lot of people regret the houses they pay rent for when the rainy season comes, a guy I know lost all his expensive house items to flood.
Another factor to consider is the network that's good in the area, we are in a digital world now so I can't imagine living in a place with no network working well. Also check for good electricity except you have solar system to rely on. All these factors do make our options more expensive but it's always worth it to find a comfortable place.
To find a new home also means to have new neighbours and I think I would love to have neighbors who are not too close and not too far, I mean, the ones that will allow my privacy and I'll allow theirs. There is always a better atmosphere with neighbours who are understanding and keeps the neighbourhood at heart, I want that.

Network, and electricity are one of the most important because of there is no electricity, staying in that place will be a problem for real.. I can manage some things o but electricity and network, they must show face.
I also have a good taste when picking a place to call home which is why I wonβt mind going extra to pay for a nice apartment
Lol we dey together, who lives without good network and electricity now self? Except they are not involved with anything online.
Like me now, I am not involve with anything online. I can proof it to you at the sam hangout that will hold in 2026. ππ

That is why mothers are very special. See how she went all the way to get a comfortable place for you when you got admission.
There are lots of experiences with landlords and their problems at times. Thanks to be God because I have never experienced it before.
Thanks for sharing
Yeah, I really appreciate her efforts then to make the whole process easy for me.
Indeed, you should be thankful. A lot of people won't say same.
I really donβt care much about neighbors, they should just have sense and know how to mind their business . Aside that, i care more about the state of the room, the location of the house and internet connection- very necessary.
Lol that's just it, it's the comfortability in the home that's matters more after all.
Right!
Electricity is definitely important. Imagine moving into a place that barely has light, with the high price of fuel, and even buying a generator, I really pray anyone looking for a home, finds the right one.
True, the best always is having your own house but to find from another, it's grace and money o. π
Yes, i think i should also look for a better location where signals are always best lol π because i live in a digital world too but light, water and gas supply are basics to living

And I think good signals have become one of our basics to living too. π
Haha yes in the modern era π
Wow, your experience shows how thoughtful you are...peace, safety, comfort and everything someone needs why choosing really do matter more than just beautiful walls.
Yeah, that's right.
Network and electricity are one of the factors one must consider because without network you'll miss out on the world and without electricity, you can charge your phones or laptops.
True, I've experienced having blackouts for weeks and no network for days, it's not a good experience at all.
It's definitely not.
Finding a flat from renting is the most difficult things and a lot of things need to be checked. Only for one issue we may need to suffer a lot.
True, it's not easy at all. And the agents who are to help don't even make it easy sometimes.
I feel like I would need to sit down and think deeply with a pen and piece of paper before any journey on a search to rent a house. Because there are so many little things that one can forget to look out for and after a while they can make ones life miserable for a long time.
You're very right about that, you have to be more intentional about the house you're searching for. Making sure it crosses all your lists.
the most important things to look at when getting a house is the location, electricity and some basic amenities
True, they are very important.
The more expensive the rental price of the property and security, the better it will be, especially in other areas where we don't know for sure the conditions there, whether there are robberies or other crimes.
Yeah, if you want a better place, you have pay more for the rent.
The most beautiful thing in an home settings is the location and an executive interior settings with all the full facility, and talking about privacy it's good to have people around if you can able to find those that really understand you and those that you can tolerate.
Yeah, not those lousy neighbours that you'd wish you were alone.
