Yesterday, while walking through the university, I was returning from the Mechanics department, where I am conducting research on failures in electric motors for electric vehicles. On the long walk to the exit, I noticed how many places there are with truly wonderful landscapes. In fact, universities in Brazil are usually built in a way that maintains harmony with nature—something that, in my opinion, should also be applied to our cities, which unfortunately end up being dominated almost exclusively by concrete buildings.

Between one classroom (the lecture halls) and another, there are gardens, each one more beautiful than the last. I had never passed through that specific stretch before, as I usually travel it by motorcycle or car, since it is quite far away. But this time, I decided to walk and was surprised to find a charming garden.

In the center of it was a small fountain, with a pump that kept the water moving, preventing it from becoming stagnant. Around it, various plants of different types embellished the environment. Although it needs some care—such as cleaning up the fallen leaves on the ground, which suggest that the place has not been maintained for a few weeks—the space still conveys a special feeling, as if it were a small natural refuge, reminiscent of a garden in the middle of the forest.

There are many places like this at the university, and I intend to share some of them here whenever I can. Thank you very much for joining me on this walk!

Ontem, enquanto caminhava pela universidade, estava voltando do departamento de Mecânica, onde desenvolvo uma pesquisa sobre falhas em motores elétricos para veículos elétricos. No longo trajeto até a saída, pude perceber como existem muitos lugares com paisagens realmente maravilhosas. De fato, as universidades no Brasil costumam ser construídas de forma a manter uma harmonia com a natureza — algo que, na minha opinião, deveria também ser aplicado às nossas cidades, que infelizmente acabam sendo dominadas quase exclusivamente por prédios de concreto.

Entre uma didática (os blocos de aulas) e outra, há jardins, cada um mais bonito que o outro. Nunca havia passado por aquele trecho específico, já que costumo percorrê-lo de moto ou de carro, por ser bastante distante. Mas, dessa vez, resolvi ir a pé e acabei me surpreendendo ao encontrar um jardim encantador.

No centro dele havia uma pequena fonte, com uma bomba que mantinha a água em movimento, evitando que ficasse parada. Ao redor, várias plantas de diferentes tipos embelezavam o ambiente. Apesar de precisar de alguns cuidados — como a limpeza das folhas caídas pelo chão, que sugerem que o local não recebe manutenção há algumas semanas —, ainda assim o espaço transmite uma sensação especial, como se fosse um pequeno refúgio natural, lembrando um jardim no meio da floresta.
