In order to keep our lives spicy, many of us do certain interesting activities that bring joy to our everyday lives. For me, it is to dine out with my wife and try different dishes in new restaurants. I have been a foodie forever and glad that my wife also likes this trait in me. So whenever we feel low in our lives or just eat homemade food, we often begin a quest that starts with finding a new good restaurant in the city that we havenβt tried out yet and then get the fastest route to it. I am glad to live in Kolkata, which is well known for its street food and popular Bengali dishes. But I am more into trying out unique dishes and mostly love Asian, Chinese and Continental dishes.
Some weeks back when my brother joined us one day, we planned to go to a nearby restaurant named Cantonese and it was a popular choice for Chinese and Continental but though we live near the restaurant, we haven't tried it out. So as we decided, we got prepared and after a joyful evening walk. We finally reached there at around dinner time. To be honest, after receiving the menu book (it was literally a book of 10-12 menu pages at least) we got overwhelmed seeing many new dishes available there that we haven't even heard of. Now this is a serious thing because we can't just hold a waiter forever asking him details of every dish as it would be embarrassing.
At that time, all 3 of us were feeling hungry already after a long walk and didn't want to waste any more time exploring the long menu. So, we just decided to try our luck and ordered random dishes from both starter and main course and also ordered ourselves with 3 beverages to wash those things down. Anyway, we started the dinner with a chicken recipe the name was something like Shredded Pepper Chicken, and gladly, it was really tasty and mildly spicy and tasted like a combination of sour and sweet but perfectly blended.
For our main course, again we did the same and just ordered one noodle and one rice dish along with 1 chicken and 1 prawn dish. Now the noodles that you in the picture are not the normal ones, these are called Meifoon and are made from rice and not flour. They also tasted very different from what we generally taste and also felt drier but went well with the sauce and the chicken dish. The mixed Fried Rice also tasted well, but I mostly ate the Noodles because it was really unique to my taste buds. I really like the chicken dish as it came with delicious spicy gravy which went well with the noodles. But for the Prawn dish, I didn't like it very much, as it tasted sweet and I hate sweet dishes. But my wife and brother took care of the Prawns and Rice while I was busy eating the noodles and chicken balls.
Overall, the restaurant really impressed us on our first visit with its well-behaved and friendly staff, clean and theme interiors and obviously with the delicious dishes. Even though we were a pack of 3 hungry adults, We could not eat the whole meal and packed the leftovers after enjoying the beverages, where I again something new (it was named something... colada) while they both ordered a Fresh Lime Soda. Anyway, it was such a great experience we had that day and not to mention, that restaurant is on our top-to-go list already.
