It's been almost a month since my last post regarding Soulkeep and today I return to share my thoughts on this game also because some new features have been announced that will be introduced during the next week.
But first I want to take a step back by summarizing the history of this Tower Defense game, a history that started a long time ago.
It was in fact September 22, 2022 when the Presale of the Nightmare packs (the NFT packs of the game) began.
I participated in the presale and purchased 167 Nightmare packs by spending 760K DEC + 167 VOUCHERS which had a value of $662.36 on September 22, 2022.
Today November 21, 2024 167 Nightmare packs have a market value (Highest Bid) = 367.40 SWAP.HIVE = $84.77
Soulkeep started as a game project that was to be owned and managed by Splinterlands and Double Coconut together but later became totally owned by Double Coconut.
The playable version of Soulkeep was released on June 25, 2024.
Although Soulkeep is a game owned by Double Coconut it is playable directly from the Splinterlands site.
I started playing since the first days and I was positively impressed by this game because it has nice graphics and it is also fun.
As time went by, the game improved because some bugs were fixed (albeit slowly).
But the biggest issue of Soulkeep has been the management and distribution of rewards which on Soulkeep consist of quantities of SPS tokens.
Double Coconut, perhaps because of its first experience in the web3 game sector, failed to manage issues related to a wrong rewards distribution mechanism in a timely manner that produced exploits by some players and discontent among SPS token holders who saw players earning up to 10K SPS per day.
This situation resulted in the submission of a Draft Proposal in which 97% of the SPS stakeholders who voted on the draft proposal called for the stop of SPS token distribution via Soulkeep.
The draft proposal produced the next Proposal which this time was voted in favor of Soulkeep but only because Double Coconut stopped the distribution of rewards and promised to quickly release changes to the reward system.
In fact, it has been several days on Soulkeep that you cannot play the Tournaments mode because this mode has been disabled.
Today Soulkeep announced the beginning of a new phase in which there will be many changes to the Reward System.
These changes will be implemented during the coming week.

The first change will be the reset of game progress of all players who will restart from League 1.
The second change will relate to the distribution of the SPS Reward Pot.
In the next image you can see how the Reward Pot was distributed in the old Reward System for each league.
In the New Reward System the percentages of the SPS Reward Pot for each league will change as you can see in the next image.
In the new Reward System only league 1 will not have requirements in SPS stakes while all leagues starting from league 2 will have requirements in SPS stakes increasing.
Although I consider Soulkeep a beautiful and fun game I did not like Soulkeep's first handling of the Reward System and for that reason:
But I really appreciate those who recognize their mistakes and try to correct them.
That is why I want to put my trust in the Soulkeep team for a second time, and today I took my 46 Nightmare packs off the sale market.
By the way the market value of the NIGHTMARE packs has decreased a lot since the game was released.
I am curious to see the effects the new changes to the Reward System will have and based on these effects I will decide what to do with my Soulkeep assets.
I hope that the future goals that Soulkeep has stated and wants to achieve will be met but most of all I hope that from now on Double Coconut will show more attention to game dynamics and reward distribution to create a game environment that is always competitive but more balanced and fun than the previous one.
Any game that permits the purchase of NFT and tokens is never just a game but is also an investment and should always be considered as such.

E' passato quasi un mese dal mio ultimo post relativo a Soulkeep e oggi ritorno a condividere le mie considerazioni su questo gioco anche perchè sono state annunciate delle novità che saranno introdotte durante la prossima settimana.
Ma prima voglio fare un passo indietro raccontando in sintesi la storia di questo Tower Defence game che è iniziata molto tempo fa.
Era infatti il 22 settembre 2022 quando è iniziata la Presale dei Nightmare packs (i pacchi di NFT del gioco).
Io ho partecipato alla presale e ho acquistato 167 Nightmare packs spendendo 760K DEC + 167 VOUCHER che il 22 settembre 2022 avevano un valore di 662.36$.
Oggi 21 novembre 2024 167 Nightmare packs hanno un valore di mercato (Highest Bid) = 367.40 SWAP.HIVE = 84.77$
Soulkeep è nato come un progetto di un gioco che doveva essere di proprietà e gestito da Splinterlands e Double Coconut insieme ma successivamente è diventato totalmente di proprietà di Double Coconut.
La versione giocabile di Soulkeep è stata rilasciata il 25 giugno 2024.
Anche se Soulkeep è un gioco di proprietà di Double Coconut è giocabile direttamente dal sito di Splinterlands.
Io ho iniziato a giocare fin dai primi giorni e sono rimasto positivamente impressionato da questo gioco perchè ha una bella grafica ed è anche divertente.
Con il passare del tempo il gioco è migliorato perchè sono stati risolti alcuni bugs (anche se lentamente).
Ma la più grande problematica di Soulkeep è stata la gestione e la distribuzione delle rewards che su Soulkeep sono costituite da quantitativi di token SPS.
Double Coconut, forse perchè alla prima esperienza nel settore dei giochi web3, non ha saputo gestire tempestivamente le problematiche relative ad un meccanismo di distribuzione delle ricompense sbagliato che ha prodotto exploits da parte di alcuni giocatori e malcontento nei possessori di token SPS che hanno visto giocatori guadagnare fino a 10K SPS al giorno.
Questa situazione ha prodotto la presentazione di una Draft Proposal in cui il 97% degli SPS stakeholders ha richiesto l'interruzione della distribuzione dei token SPS tramite Soulkeep.
La draft proposal ha prodotto la successiva Proposal che questa volta è stata votata in favore di Soulkeep perchè Double Coconut ha interrotto la distribuzione delle rewards e ha promesso di rilasciare velocemente delle modifiche al reward system.
Infatti sono diversi giorni che su Soulkeep non è possibile giocare alla modalità Tournaments perchè questa modalità è stata disattivata.
Oggi Soulkeep ha annunciato l'inizio di una nuova fase in cui ci saranno molte modifiche al Reward System.
Queste modifiche saranno implementate durante la prossima settimana.

La prima modifica sarà il reset dei progressi di gioco di tutti i giocatori che ripartiranno dalla League 1.
La seconda modifica riguarderà la distribuzione del SPS Reward Pot.
Nella prossima immagine puoi vedere come veniva distribuito il Reward Pot nel vecchio Reward System per ogni lega.
Nel Nuovo Reward System le percentuali del SPS Reward Pot per ogni lega cambieranno come puoi vedere nella prossima immagine.
Nel nuovo Reward System solo la league 1 non avrà requisiti in SPS stake mentre tutte le leghe a partire dalla League 2 avranno requisiti in SPS stake crescenti.
Anche se considero Soulkeep un gioco bello e divertente non mi è piaciuta la prima gestione del Reward System di Soulkeep e per questo motivo:
Ma apprezzo molto chi riconosce i propri errori e cerca di correggerli.
Per questo motivo voglio dare fiducia al team di Soulkeep e oggi ho tolto dal mercato di vendita i miei 46 Nightmare packs.
Tra l'altro il valore di mercato dei NIGHTMARE packs è diminuito molto rispetto a quando il gioco è stato rilasciato.
Sono curioso di vedere gli effetti che avranno le nuove modifiche al Reward System e in base a questi effetti deciderò cosa fare con i miei Soulkeep assets.
Spero che gli obiettivi futuri che Soulkeep ha dichiarato e che vuole raggiungere vengano raggiunti ma soprattutto spero che d'ora in poi Double Coconut mostri più attenzione alle dinamiche di gioco e alla distribuzione delle ricompense per creare un ambiente di gioco sempre competitivo ma più equilibrato e divertente del precedente.

A while ago I had bought some SoulKeep stuff, thinking that the game could become a great advance compared to Splinterlands, but after a while I ended up noticing a strong P2W on its part to beat some Waves at first. So I ended up selling all my assets. Maybe that will change in the future.
Yes you are right, I also thought Soulkeep could be much more successful but then it wasn't and now there are several problems to solve.

I tend to agree with your outlook. It doesn't make sense for Soulkeep to still use SPS and I think they should make their own token.
Yes I agree and in my opinion it made sense if Soulkeep was run by Splinterlands. Let's see what happens when it resumes play in tournaments
It's good to have a team that listens to criticism and actually tries to do the right thing, I think it's important that they've listened and you've taken off your packs off the market.
