Splinterlands: Maxing Out My Gold Foil Jackpot Card, White Chickadee

Splinterlands first introduced Jackpot Cards in the Frontier Mode a few months back now. Since that time I have accumulated a few of them, but the odds of pulling one is only 1.5% when you complete a daily reward. The chances aren't great, so they are pretty rare to come by. My alternate account is my lucky account, because it's the one that usually pulls Jackpot Cards as well as black foil cards in the weekly drawings. My main account here remains pretty much cursed, and has very little luck getting any good pulls...

Sometime back on the alt account I pulled a gold foil White Chickadee which is an epic card, talk about luck! It required two copies to max it out, and so when I found a good price I bought a second copy. I usually save up DEC from card sales and flipping to make these purchases, and this was not exception. There are only 17 or these in circulation so they are pretty hard to come by, and not even one gold foil is for sale right now. You can get regular foils but ten are required to max out the card.

So why did I bother to max out a card that has no attack and can't even be used by weapons training? Simple, it gains tank heal and is only three mana, the fact that is it a flying card is a huge bonus!

Now my White Chickadee has tank heal which is a big deal since in the Foundations cards this ability didn't exist. The other big plus is this can be used in Modern Mode as well, which is where it is most useful in my experience. It does have some serious weaknesses though, it is very slow and has only three health, so placement is very important. And remember a monster with opportunity may knock it out right away if you aren't careful. But it has won me multiple matches that I otherwise would have lost, so an extremely valuable card to have in your deck!

Let's see how the White Chickadee is of utility here in this low mana battle!

You can see the entire battle at this link here.

First off, this is a Modern battle with a mana cap of 20, so pretty low. The ruleset is camouflage so units can only be attacked in the first position. With this tight mana card selection and placement are paramount!

I chose to use Incessant Sage as my archon, it provides one additional shield to all of my monsters. For my tank I went with Halfling Refugee followed by a Frigid Wolf. Then to make things interesting I brought in Olivia Of The Brook followed by my upgraded White Chickadee. To round things off I used Palimpest Prophet, however, in retrospect the bird should have gone last, but oh well...

My opponent chose to use Zeddica as archon with a tank of Stampeding Calf. That was followed by Tidal Tsunamist and then the really tough card Chaos Rear Guard! Last up was a reach card Colossus Raider. When I saw the Chaos Rear Guard I actually began to worry as I didn't have a whole lot of magic attack in the lineup. Great team selection by my opponent!

After the first round has ended my opponent has lost their tank and I've not taken any real damage so far.

After two rounds my opponent is down to the last two cards, however the first one is going to be tough to beat!

My one big complaint about the Halfling Refugee is exhaustion. Here she is exhausted and doesn't attack or self heal.

That's where the White Chickadee comes to save the day and heals the damaged tank! This process happens over and over throughout the match.

At the start of round five I am slowly making some dents in the Chaos Rear Guard, but the shield is making it very difficult as my team is lite on magic.

Round six and finally some headway and the shield is finally a thing of the past!

Round seven I have the Chaos Rear Guard down to just two health, this is becoming an epic battle!

Round eight and he's down to one health thanks to Olivia Of The Brook, without her magic attack this could have gone on forever...

Finally the Chaos Rear Guard goes down for the count thanks to a magic attack from Olivia.

And the final deathblow comes from Halfling Refugee taking out the Colossus Raider. Great game to my opponent, it wasn't easy and they made some great card selections! Without Olivia Of The Brook and White Chickadee this match would have been lost. So they were the stars of the match! If I had a do over on this one I would have used more magic attack, but at least I was lucky enough to pull out the win!

Opening 10 Foundations Packs

If you are playing in the gold leagues in Frontier Mode you can win up to three packs a day in daily rewards. I tend to save them up to open up all at once in hopes of a nice surprise. Today, no such luck... Kind of the most depressing ten packs I've opened in a very long time...

The Marlai Singariel is not bad, but the others are pretty much worthless these days sadly...

Here again nothing of any real value sadly...

The archons are nice to pull but not worth a whole lot these days, still pretty sad...

And Barthalamas last up, nothing too great... Not one gold or legendary card in the bunch, highly disappointing. That is the risk of opening packs, which is why many people prefer to sell them rather than waste their potions only to find nothing special. I honestly can say I don't think I've ever opened ten packs and not had one gold card somewhere, so no luck today for me! lol

So what to do with the cards you might ask? I have a maxed out deck so many I will end up giving away, others I will burn for entries into the weekly drawing for black foil or arcane cards, and some I may sell if there is demand for them. All cards are useful in one way or another, so all cards are welcome even if I had hoped for some better ones today!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will wrap up my Splinterlands post for this week. I do hope you enjoyed seeing a maxed out White Chickadee in action, they aren't very common. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support, it really is greatly appreciated. Have a great day everyone!

Alright, I am kind of bored and you have me curious now, so I am going to check out this frontier mode. I don't really know anything about it besides what you have posted about it, but we will see what happens!

Nice work there, I am still struggling to get more jackpot cards. They are super elusive.
