Greetings Splinterlovers 💚

It's been over two weeks since the mini SET for the "Conclave Arcana" edition was announced. In fact, as I write these lines, there are exactly 3 days and 13 hours left, so if you've been living under a rock and haven't heard about it, I highly recommend taking advantage of these cards to significantly improve your gameplay. However, this isn't so simple, as they bring new things that I will gradually explain in future posts.

Now, with a little promotion about the pre-sale of this new mini set, let's move on to the topic of this post, which is about promotional cards, a topic I really like, since it dramatically increases the complexity of the game. The more cards there are, the more rules and/or abilities are introduced, and the learning curve of the game becomes steeper. Therefore, learning is a little more complicated, even though the game is really simple, which is why I make these kinds of posts.

So, to learn firsthand what these cards are capable of, you should read this post to the end, although I'll start with "Doldrus" first and then move on to Portia in the next post. Without further ado, let's get started with the information:

Doldrus (A special card for prolonged battles)

Okay, let's start with the basics that the card shows us, and so you can learn, these are its stats. Of course, I'm a fan of the card design; that's what catches my attention the most. However, I want to get straight to the point and condense the information as much as possible. So, to start with, this card is "Rare" and, of course, has the same frame as "Conclave Arcana." The only thing I see that changes is the distinctive symbol in the lower left corner, which I imagine is to differentiate it from the SETS that are part of the complete "Conclave Arcana" set.

Now, your statistics are as follows:

  • Mana cost: This card has 4 mana points, which gives it a lot of versatility and possibilities for playing in many game environments.

  • Shield: It has 4 shield points, which are very necessary, and later on you will see why.

  • Life: It has more than 7 life points, which isn't very high, but considering it's a card with a fairly low mana cost, it's not bad.

  • Speed: It has 3 speed points, which isn't bad at all. The truth is that this can make it much more interesting.

Note: It has no attack, which could be seen at first glance as a weakness, but in reality, it's quite the opposite, as this card has its own mission on the field. However, that doesn't mean it can't attack. Furthermore, it's a Dual Element card (Death and Earth), which is a very curious combination, but one that goes incredibly well with its abilities.

⁣Analysis of your Abilities (Doldrus)

This is where things get interesting, because the card really is a paradigm shift in terms of strategy. Although it doesn't have any kind of attack, it can have one if you want it to, but pay attention:

  • Shapeshift: This ability gives it incredible versatility, allowing it to be played in any "Bloodline."

  • Cleanse: This ability helps keep the tank alive by removing debuffs.

  • Deflection Shroud: This ability helps adjacent units protect themselves against redirected attacks.

  • Corrupted Healing: Restores up to 70% of all allies' maximum health. It may be bad, but in many cases it comes in handy.

  • Flame Fed: This is one of the new abilities introduced with "Escalation," transforming "Burn" into a major advantage, gaining +1 maximum health point each round.

This is great, as it is a unit that can strengthen your units, but at the same time, it is a card capable of putting up quite a fight on the battlefield, so its purpose may be to serve as a "Defensive Wall" while your offensive team takes control of the field.

However, there is an incredible synergy that can give it an attacking role, since if we combine this card with "Weapons Training," this card will gain half the attack of the card with that ability. Generally, it is not that strong, but in many cases even +1 attack point can really make a difference.

Conclusion

With this condensed information, I hope you like this card. The truth is that it's very good, and not just because it's a promotional card, although these cards are usually BROKEN and instantly enter the "METAGAME." Honestly, you can do great things with it, as it's very versatile and can adapt to different types of battles.
