Choosing Myself Daily In Small Healthy Habits

I gave the prompt out of a place of love and realization, this is something that a lot of us are guilty of without realizing it. Until I started to intentionally choose myself everyday, I use to think if others are happy and fine then I am okay. The only time I worry about myself is when I can't do anything for others anymore, when I am sick.

It's funny how we think being good to others is the right thing to do and not think that being good to ourselves is what will help us be good to others. Even the Bible says, "Love your neighbours as you love yourself". How exactly do you love others when you don't actually love yourself? There is no other way, love your first.

I'm still learning on how to go about that and that is where this prompt was birthed from, a place of realization that love isn't by words alone but by everyday intentional actions that will make me feel loved by me and that way, I can love others even more. A speaker I listened to yesterday said this, "You can't pour from an empty cup", it's clear.

So with that in mind for a long while now, I've been very intentional about how my everyday should go and I try to understand my body more so I'll know whenever it needs something or when I have to stay away from something. And yes, it's not easy to follow through with a new habit but it can be very satisfying when it's done.

It's why I've been able to keep it up for over a few months now, putting myself first everyday intentionally. My daily health care looks like this:

  • I prioritize my mornings: There are like many things I do when I wake up but none of them stresses me, instead, they boost me for the day. From studying the Bible, praying, reading some pages of a book, exercising and trying not to think about anything aside what I plan to do for the day. I plan to add Journaling too.

  • I prioritize my body system: I'm learning to understand how my body works, listen to it and care for it just how it wants me to. In the few I've understood, I make sure to stay hydrated and very careful with what I eat and my sleeping time. I rest a lot too although I have little to do now, I plan to maintain that.

  • I prioritize my mind: This one is a new habit I'm building which have been giving a lot of positive differences for me since I started, I read more now and not just anything but books and articles that will build my mind, a few that relaxes my mind too. Journaling about my day every night also helps my mind.

There are a lot more I do for my health like taking supplements, eating on time, staying off my phone as much as possible, taking walks and even speaking positive about myself... All these are helping me maintain good health habits and keeping fit. I'm working on being consistent now.
