I Saw I Came I Ate - Hot Pot Buffet Found In The Neighbourhood

Hello all, hope all of you are doing fine. I am back again to share on something that I've just recently found in my neighbourhood. Sometimes interesting food places appear in the neighbour and they are a real gem which brings great food quality or even a good price point.

The Place

Compared to previous food places which were found in malls and done up nicely, this particular eatery is found in the food court of an industrial building. But this place draws loads of crowd even when it is not air conditioned. There are many other variety of food available here but this time round I will be focusing on this hot pot buffet.

The place is easy to find and at the fringe of the residential area. Parking is never an issue as there is plenty available. While at peak hours, seat might be a little tougher to get, it is quite a big food court with a large seating capacity.

Here's how the place looks like:

This was what caught my eye when I visited and that is why I decided to give it a try. Most hot pot buffet available in my country cost approximately 35-50 Singapore dollars per pax, with a price point of 19.90 Singapore dollars per pax, it is definitely very attractive. Nothing much to talk about the place and environment as it is a typical food court setting. Though I did spot a spelling mistake where it mentions buffer instead of buffet, it is definitely a place for buffet and not buffer.

The Food
Now to the main highlight of this post, my wife and I came here together so we ordered buffet for 2 pax.

The ordering process is simple, just tell the shop keeper what soup base you want for your hotpot and she will bring the hot pot to your table.

This time round we ordered Tomato and Pork Bone Soup and I was really amazed that this traditional looking hot pot which is filled with charcoal in the middle is able to house 2 different soups.

This time round as it is a buffet, I will look into everything in totality instead of breaking down into various dishes. Will start with showcasing all the items we took from the fridge before diving into the various ingredients available.

Soup Base
Nice and simple tomato soup and pork bone soup that allow us to have an alternative choice on where we cook our ingredients in. Soup base wise, it is no match for other more famous hot pot shop but for the price point, it is very much acceptable.

Meat
There were 4 kinds of meat available namely Beef, Mutton, Pork and Chicken. There was no shortage in supply for them. All of them were thinly sliced which makes it really easy to cook in the hotpot. We took mainly beef as we were beef lovers. Quality of the meat is good with some slight marbling and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Seafood
Many varieties available from prawns, fish, shellfish/clams and even large juice scallops. Everything is really fresh here with no signs of stale seafood being served. This is very important as bad seafood really spoils the day. The scallop is a top hit, if you are here, do take a couple and savour its freshness.

Vegetables and mushroom
All fresh green leafy vegetables with no signs of yellow or rotting parts. The available mushrooms such as king abalone and straw mushroom were great too. Everything is put into small portions so that it is easy to cook and not overwhelm the pot.

Overall:
A simple place that boast a great price point. Food variety is awesome and definitely worth every penny paid for. It might not have like many variants like established buffet places, but the variety available is already way above expectation and key is that every single ingredient served is fresh. I always look out for the freshness in the seafood and they have done well to serve fresh seafood. There is also a sauce counter for us to get some nice dipping sauce of our own mix and enhance the flavour of the food. My wife and I totally enjoyed this buffet and in terms of price point/quantity, it is really worth it. If you are really hungry and want some nice quality meats and seafood, this is the place to come to and indulge yourself in the mountains of food available in the fridge which you can just take at free will. Do note that while it is a buffet, we always do not waste food, so just take what you are able to consume.
