I Saw I Came I Ate - Carl's Junior - The Taste of California

Hello all, hope all of you are doing fine. Been a short while since I last did my last post, so here I am back to share good food with all of you. In today's post, I will be sharing on a famous fast food chain that serve premium burgers which is a notch above most fast food joints. As both my wife and I were working a little later than usual this evening, I drove to her workplace and brought her to a mall near her workplace to have our dinner.

The Place

Carl's Junior is a fast food chain that should not be foreign to many. And I am very certain many would have patronise this global chain one time or another. But I would still want to share this particular outlet which my wife and I tend to visit to seek our comfort burgers especially when many food places around her workplace would be closed the time when we started to finding a location to eat.

This outlet is located in The Star Vista, a mall that houses a variety of shops and also New Creation Church. Parking is a breeze here as there are ample of parking available and if you are an EV car owner like me, there are quite a number of EV chargers located in the carpark. The outlet is very nicely decorated and well maintained with no signs of paint worn out or even broken furniture. It has both inner dining area which is air conditioned and also another area for al fresco dining right in front of the outlet. Interior is nicely decorated and spacious, a very comfortable place to have dinner and chit chat after it.

Here's how the place looks like:

The interior has a strong sense of industrial feel for the design but with elements of sunny California with the tall coconut trees and also the beach surfers. I love how the way it is designed and certainly enjoy having my meal there. With an order label placed on the table, your food will be served directly to your table by the friendly staff.

The Food
Now to the main highlight of this post, since Carl's Junior is good with burgers, we definitely have to be ordering some burgers to fill our stomachs. At Carl's Junior, you can either the burgers alone or order together with a drink and fries.

And so here's what we've ordered:

• Western Bacon Angus Burger Combo (me)
• Yakiniku Pork Burger Combo (wife)

Let's start looking at each of the food item closely as I review them

Western Bacon Angus Burger Combo

Look at the big piece of bacon sticking out of the burger, it taste awesome and elevates the Angus beef patty that is grilled to perfection. No signs of overcook or excessively tough beef. Beef patty is tender with juices locked in. This is one of their premium Angus burgers which slightly more than the usual burger but totally worth that additional dollars to be eating a nicer beef patty that is flavourful and have a nice bite than usual ones from fast food outlets or even some restaurants. The bread is nicely grilled at the side that faced the other ingredients no signs of burnt portions which shows a good control of the kitchen staff preparing the burger. Everything for the burger is assembled properly and nicely tucked into the burger bag. I will discuss the fries in another section after I share on both the burgers.

Yakiniku Pork Burger Combo

Compared to the Western Bacon Angus Burger that I've ordered, the bread is a little different. Instead of the bare bread being used, bread with sesame is being used for this. Similarly, it is well charred with no burnt portion on the side facing the ingredients. The pork patty is well made that is not overly chunky that is becomes hard to bite through. There should be some form of tenderizing done to the patty and it is easy on the mouth with juices coming from both within the patty and from the generous portion of Yakiniku sauce drenched on the meat patty. If you are someone whom prefer non beef option, this is one amazing burger with a great taste that I would strongly recommend.

Carl's Junior Fries

From the pictures above, you can feel the crisp of the fries and indeed it is very crispy and even when we leave some fries to the end to be eaten after settling the burger, they are still nice and crispy. One thing I like about Carl's Junior's fries is that they are really long and thick where you will not only be able to taste the crispy surface of the fries but you can also savour the soft potato insides. This is something some other fast food joints do not offer and often we see very short fries which resemble and have the same bite as packet titbits where it is all crisp and not having the taste of potato. Having adequate length and girth is important to me to enjoy the fries.

Beverage

The best thing about dining at Carl's Junior is that if you ordered a drink, it is free flow and you can even do a mix and match according to your liking or even change to another drink after you finish one.

Overall:
A nice place to enjoy premium burgers that are prepared well with use of great ingredients. Fries are way above average that other fast food joints, good taste and good crisp/length to savour them, one of my favourite fries. With the free flow drinks available, you will sure not leave the place feeling thirsty. One of the place that make me feel like that they are serving fast food that do not look and taste like fast food.
