Once again, I'm here with cricket highlights of the Men's T20 World Cup. Let's begin.

ICC T20 World Cup 2026: What's Happened So Far

About the Tournament

The T20 World Cup 2026 is underway in India and Sri Lanka. Twenty teams are playing 55 matches from February 7 to March 8. The games are being played in five cities in India and three cities in Sri Lanka.

The Big Final

India vs New Zealand will play the final on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is the first time these two teams have met in a T20 World Cup final. India wants to win their third title, while New Zealand is looking for its first.
India beat England in an exciting semi-final. The match had 499 runs and 34 sixes! It was very close and went down to the last over. India won by just 7 runs, thanks to their bowling effort in the death overs. England captain Harry Brook became the first captain ever to score a century in the T20 World Cup.
New Zealand destroyed South Africa in the other semi-final. They won by 9 wickets, chasing 170 runs in just 12.5 overs. Finn Allen was the hero. He scored 100 runs in just 33 balls, the fastest century ever in T20 World Cup history.

What Happened to Other Big Teams?

Australia, Shocked Early Exit: Australia crashed out in the first round for the first time since 2009. Zimbabwe beat them by 23 runs in one of the biggest upsets ever. This loss sent Australia home early.

Pakistan, So Close But Not Enough: Some excellent individual performances, but overall, a mediocre performance from the Pakistan team. They were close but not enough to qualify for the semi-finals. Sahibzada Farhan scored two centuries in the tournament; nobody has ever done that before! He also scored 383 runs, the most ever in a single T20 World Cup so far. Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman made a partnership of 176 runs, the highest ever in T20 World Cup history. Pakistan and New Zealand had the same points in the Super 8 stage, but New Zealand qualified instead because of a better run rate.

South Africa, Unbeaten Until the Semis: South Africa didn't lose a single match in the group stage or Super Eight. But then they faced New Zealand in the semi-final and got completely crushed. It was heartbreaking for them.

Sri Lanka, Co-Hosts Go Home: Sri Lanka was hosting the tournament with India, but they couldn't reach the semi-finals. They were knocked out in the Super Eight stage. Their captain Dasun Shanaka became the first Sri Lankan to hit 100 sixes in T20 cricket, but it wasn't enough.

Some Amazing Performances by Smaller Teams

Canada's Young Star: Yuvraj Samra is only 19 years old. He scored 110 runs against New Zealand and became the youngest player ever to score a century in any World Cup (T20 or ODI). He's also the first Canadian and first Associate nation player to score a T20 World Cup century.

Zimbabwe Makes History: For the first time, Zimbabwe reached the Super Eight stage of a T20 World Cup. Their win against Australia helped them make history.

The Final Showdown

Now everyone is waiting for the final. #India and New Zealand will battle it out on March 8 at 7:00 PM. Both teams have played incredible cricket. India is the defending champion and wants to keep their title. New Zealand has never won a T20 World Cup and is hungry for its first trophy. It's going to be an exciting match!
