More medical checkups, Less self medication
People do not value what they have until they lose it, many people do not go for medical check-ups until there is an obvious sign that they are unwell, and even with that, they still prefer self-medicating to actually going for a medical check-up to know what is wrong with them so they can know the right treatment for it.

I used to be the self-medicating kind of person until the illness that almost took my life last year, It started with the usual body weakness, hot temperature, and headache and I guessed it would be malaria so I went to the pharmacy to get malaria drugs which I took and I felt relieved for 3 days before the symptoms came back but this time stronger...
I still have the malaria drugs so I used them again and I would be relieved for a few days until it got critical and I had to call a nurse to treat me, the quack nurse also didn't do any tests for me, she assumed I had malaria and gave me injection and drip, I didn't have the stress to argue with her, I felt relieved again but it only lasted for a week and I started to fear for my life, why am I sick after treatment, I called my sister and she recommended going to a lab for a test which I did immediately and that was where it was revealed I had chronic typhoid fever, Imagine using stomach pain drugs for headache, I have been treating malaria when I should be treating typhoid, a problem known is a problem half solved, so after getting the drugs for typhoid, my health was restored.
My story above shows the importance of lab tests but many people don't like to do it and I understand the reason! Sometimes even those people make us waste money on certain things and this is because they need customers, even Doctors can't be trusted...

A friend of mine had bleeding and she visited the hospital only for the doctor to say they needed to admit her for bed rest... the bed rest cost 70k per night lol... Even though she is working and capable of paying it why would someone pay 70k per night for bed rest, what happened to her house lol, this was exactly what she told the doctor that she would go and rest at home, but if there is any medication she needs the doctor can let her know, if we look into this, a lot of doctors are doing this nowadays, go with a small problem and they will want to admit you so they can make their own money, they can easily prescribe drugs for you but that won't pay their bills.
The same thing happened to me when I visited a lab with my babe, she went for a test, and her blood was collected for it and after the result came out, the lab tech still insisted we should do a urine test which we did and it was still the same result! I paid 12k instead of 5k that day for two same results and I wonder why he would ask us to run another test when the result was already obvious, things like this are what make most people avoid hospitals and labs for checkups because they know what they will spend might ruin their budget for the month.

My sister has had the same experience. Until a medical test was conducted. I have learned from that ugly experience.

I know that self medication can bring good result many times and can save money but when it goes wrong one time, the compensation is huge. So, that's the reason I don't prefer self medicating. Moreover, I have good gene and I rarely become sick which is good for me.

Hahahaha 🤣. That doctor got me laughing. Bed rest that will cost 70 k for every night? This is serious. I know about such doctors but we also don't allow them discourage us from going to the hospital because is really important.
