RE: Sam’s Hangout #91 - “DOING DIFFERENT”

It's quite sad that a lot of people fall victim of that. You know, heading into a course because every other being is doing it as well. Simply following the crowd.
I have a friend currently doing that and I don't even have the least idea on how to draw her back and make her see reasons to give this choice of hers a second thought.

You're indeed daring to do something different, the sidetalks and every other factors regardless. Go for it gurllllllllll! 😉

It's really sad. My case is not one of doing a course because everyone was doing it, though. I did it because I liked it and because it would be easier for me to get a job in this country. But over time, I've realized that the places we ought to be may not always be the ones that we choose or think is right. So, I'm thankful for that clarity.

I think you should keep chatting with your friend, take a day off to just advise her on it. If she doesn't listen, then there's nothing you can do. Thanks for the encouragement, Soma.

Hey Soma 🥰

Your friend have made her decision, your opinion is like the public opinion we are talking about here 😅, just joking, but don't stress yourself too much convincing her, leave her to follow the crowd 😅, she would still come back to you.

Oya, don't mind me ooh, I know someone that decided to accept a course that I didn't like and my reasons for discouraging her was obvious, I also tried convincing her, but she was more focused on what people would say and sitting for another jamb, those things don't matter to me fr and that's the major reason young teenagers become victims of regrets.
I allowed her and guess what? She's now seeing the reality of what I told her.

I have tried as much as I can to advise young people to stop the unnecessary rush to go to uni, keep fighting for that dream, don't let pressure make you study what you would end up regretting in the future.
This is Nigeria, there are many things to consider before choosing a career.
