We don’t need to do too much to make people smile, we don't need to give people the whole world before they can smile, sometimes the tiniest gestures like smiling at them, complimenting them, or showing concern can go a long way in making people happy.
Something baffling happened and this made me reflect on my life. The help of my colleague stopped by the office with my colleague’s child. I have heard stories of my colleague not treating this little girl too well but nobody was bold enough to talk to him about it).
I was finally privileged to be in the office when this little girl walked in. I had a quickening to give her some money and I did. This little girl was so excited that she started crying. She bowed her head and cried for sometime. I didn't know when I also started crying from my desk.
Why was I crying? I couldn't believe the 'little' money I gave to this girl could mean so much to push her to tears. I was both shocked and touched.
What was this little girl’s story? What could make her weep so bitterly like an adult? Those were the questions I had to ask myself. I didn't know this little girl’s story but I was greatly moved.
For a moment I thought about my life and I couldn't help but be grateful. My childhood wasn't all grand or rosy but I can tell you for a fact that I wasn't a maid at age 13 neither was I shipped off to an uncle or aunties house to be catered for and I didn’t cry so bitterly because a stranger helped me. Back then weeping so bitterly like the little girl did was for only when I was flogged at home for doing something bad.
It's so sad that a lot of people are like this little girl, they'd be touched greatly if you could ever lend a helping hand to them. Sometimes we just might be the catalyst to the success of a person, all you need to do is show a little kindness that might not cost you so much.
The other time I went to braid my hair and I spent 10 hours braiding my hair this was because the hairdresser was slow. So imagine spending 10 hours of your day, exerting so much energy on braiding someone’s hair only for a little token? and this wouldn't be just for her use alone as she would have to use it to cater for her family back at home.
The more I analyzed all of these the more I beat myself up for being an ingrate sometimes.
Imagine sulking over adding chicken to my rice instead of turkey while there are a lot of people who cannot even afford that rice or how much more the turkey or chicken.
I am learning how to be grateful every single day because, at this point in my life, God has blessed me beyond human imagination. I might not have everything that I have always wished for or even be at the point where I have always wished to be, but the fact that I am comfortable, I am content and I am happy.
My heart aches when I think about people who have nothing, can God change their stories? Can we have a world with no poor people in it? If wishes were horses beggars would ride right?
In conclusion wherever we find ourselves let us try to extend a helping hand to the next person as it doesn’t cost so much but can go a long way.

I think it's the small gestures added up that make the world beautiful- those tiny human moments that unify us... The story about this little girl is really sad, I felt concerned reading about her circumstances and imagining how she might be feeling... It is lovely that you could do something nice for her. 💚
Staying in gratitude is powerful, even though it is difficult to do many times. I enjoyed reading about how you try to stay centered in it !LADY 🤗

Very, very sad and she is just too young to experience everything happening to her.

Such is life, if we hear the story of others, we will forever be grateful to God for the positions that we are in... for that girl to cry for your act of generosity, she must be going through a lot.
Yeah, when I listen to other people’s stories I can’t help but beat myself up for being an ungrateful fellow.
