Planning a trip around the world - Have you ever done something like this? (Part 1)

"Let's rent out the house and travel around the world for a year."

When these words came out of my partner's mouth a few weeks ago I was both surprised and not surprised at all. The idea seemed to come out of nowhere and yet I recalled him mentioning, multiple times over the years, that when he retired from full time work he wanted to travel around the world.

He doesn't do anything until he's ready, or until his hand is forced.

I'd wanted him to declutter this--very full--house from the day I moved in but he didn't have the time or energy until he was no longer working full time. And he didn't have the motivation to deep clean, declutter and renovate (all things this place needed) until he decided that he wanted to rent the house out.

The moment he made that decision (and I agreed that somehow I would make it work to run my business internationally for an entire year) the clean up began. And man can this guy move when he's ready!

When he's ready. Not a moment before.

Ah, life. It keeps presenting me with more and more ways to learn about my man. Maybe it's naive to think I would know everything about a partner after being together for more than five and a half years already. (Yes, it's totally naive). But I do love that I keep learning new things about him, and myself, as we travel on doing life together.

Speaking of travelling: We're planning to spend a year travelling around the world!!!

OMG. I have been reminded more than once that we are very privileged to be able to do this. This is surely true. I also know that I'm finding the whole process rather stressful and overwhelming; there is so much to do.

In an attempt to learn more about how to navigate something like 30 countries over 365 or so days and have the opportunity to share my thoughts and feelings about the whole process "out loud", I thought I'd write this blog post. And, if I can in between everything else, I'll probably write a few of these as the process goes on.

Right now, while Mister declutters and fixes things around the house and yard, my biggest job is to shift my business model to something that will work better "on the road". With the latest itinerary (I'm up to something like Version #8 now) seeing us in some locations as little as 3 nights and the longest anywhere being just over a month, I need to have far less reliance on 1:1 coaching clients as my main source of revenue (/income).

My ideal (and plan) is to take as much of the incredible amount of knowledge I have on Human Design, Tapping and doing Trauma-Informed Work and put this "monster-pile-of-stuff" into organised products and programs that others can purchase and consume without ever needing to meet me.

It's going to take time. I fear it will take more time than the six months we have before our ideal departure date (based on seasons). But I keep being reminded (by my partner and by some wiser part of me that voices her opinion from time-to-time) that I can only do the best I can do. And that we'll figure it out.

...

Have you ever done a multi-country trip? (Even if only for a few weeks, I'd love to know). And if yes, what did you learn in the process that made the transitions between different countries and cultures easier for you? Tell me in the comments!

That's a momentous decision to be sure! Glad that you have the means to do this, it's going to be a wonderful experience. If you plan on coming to Latin America, stop by Venezuela for a bit, if you can. I'd be happy to accompany you around!

Keeps us going really...

I think, to some degree, for us too.

Sometimes we have ideas in our heads and it takes ages before things manifest. I like that, and it shows just how important it is to trust the timing and process of every thing.
All good wishes:)))

@millycf1976 I agree with your heart here. Some things take ages. But all are part of the Higher Powers plan. "All in it's right time"... I guess we could say... Hello, by the way. Love and light, dear soul...

I’m pretty sure you know how happy this post makes me especially how you couldn’t really travel with “new things”

Yayyy!!!! I’m so excited and I’m so glad you have your partner and the inner wiser voice to keep reminding you that you can only do the best you can do.

Ah! I'm glad this post makes you happy =)

But I do have to warn you, I really don't think we're going to get to Ghana. I want to go EVERYWHERE (that doesn't have active wars and ridiculous treatment of women that is!) but we're not going to fit it all in! But if we pull off this trip I'll be only 6,000 km from you instead of 16000km away. !LOL

I'm in hospital because I drunk a cup of petrol.
That was a very fuelish thing to do.

Right!? What else is there to do... than figure it out! LOL no, not always easy... I do know. But it beats giving in/up/out! You had asked...

Well... there was that time I joined the US Army. Went from the middle of the States... hopped into a plane... went to Germnany. I was younger then... But even now (I am an old guy now lol) I still remember the big transition. Because I had never left my home town... ever. Then two States away... then across the ocean. Wow... anyway. I think it was knowing I would be going back to the States eventually. I tried to enjoy all that life was teaching me then. But I am happy that I am still here to tell the story... so many were not so lucky. My usual "Positive energy, breeds positive energy" motto coming through. I hope you are able to get the GUT undercontrol. I also appreciate your continued awesomesauce in our community... thank you, dear soul...

Gosh, it must have been such a shock to do that trip. Glad you made it out alive and have stayed well enough to become an "old man" that I can meet on a crypto blockchain 😊
