Sour cream, dragons and burgers

This week I went to a geek bar. It's on the same street where I live, but this was my first time there and the experience was top notch. As you can see in the photos, the bar is entirely themed and strongly embraces geek culture: characters from movies, games, and anime beloved by this tribe are scattered in every corner, bringing an interesting comfort and even nostalgia to many who, like me, loved (and still love) this when they were younger.

In addition to the atmosphere, the service is great and the order was ready absurdly quickly. I don't think I waited even 10 minutes. This alone would be enough to give the establishment a great rating, but the best was yet to come: the taste of the food.

We ordered a portion of French fries with sour cream that was simply spectacular. French fries are already good on their own, but this time the sauce made everything even better. My girlfriend ordered a hamburger called “Sor Davos,” a reference to Game of Thrones. For those who don't get the reference: Sor Davos is the Knight of Onions, and the snack lived up to its name, as it comes with caramelized onions. I chose the burger of the month (unfortunately I forgot the name) and, honestly, it was perhaps one of the best burgers I've ever had, with a more than generous slice of cheese, pineapple, and honey sauce. Perfect!

It was really a very good experience. My only criticism is of myself, for never having visited this place before, even though I live so close by. It's a great place to go with friends, as the bar itself offers several board games to play while waiting for your snack. And to top it off, you can even play inside one of the train cars that goes to Hogwarts!

Essa semana eu fui a um bar geek. Ele fica na mesma rua onde moro, mas essa foi a primeira vez que estive lá e a experiência foi nota 10. Como vocês podem notar nas fotos, o bar é todo temático e abraça com muita força a cultura geek: personagens de filmes, games e animes adorados por essa tribo estão espalhados em cada canto, trazendo um conforto interessante e até mesmo uma nostalgia para muitos que, como eu, adoravam ( e ainda gostam) isso quando eram mais novos.

Além do ambiente, o atendimento é ótimo e o pedido ficou pronto de forma absurdamente rápida. Acredito que não tenha esperado nem 10 minutos. Até aqui já seria suficiente para dar uma ótima nota ao estabelecimento, mas o principal ainda estava por vir: o sabor dos pedidos.

Pedimos uma porção de batata frita com sour cream que estava simplesmente um espetáculo. Batata frita já é boa por si só, mas dessa vez o molho deixou tudo ainda melhor. Minha namorada pediu um hambúrguer chamado “Sor Davos”, uma referência a Game of Thrones. Para quem não pegou a referência: Sor Davos é o Cavaleiro das Cebolas e o lanche fez jus ao nome, já que vem com cebola caramelizada. Eu escolhi o hambúrguer do mês (infelizmente esqueci o nome) e, sinceramente, talvez tenha sido um dos melhores hambúrgueres que já comi, uma fatia mais que generosa de queijo, abacaxi e molho de mel. Perfeito!

Foi realmente uma experiência muito boa. A única crítica que faço é a mim mesmo, por nunca ter visitado esse lugar antes, mesmo morando tão perto. É um ótimo espaço para ir com os amigos, já que o próprio bar disponibiliza vários jogos de mesa para usar enquanto se espera pelo lanche. E, para completar, você ainda pode jogar dentro de um dos vagões do trem que vai para Hogwarts!
