Hallo liebe Hivians und Fitnessfreunde!

Auch heute gab es keine Zeit für sportliche Aktivitäten. Lediglich am frühen Abend haben wir eine kleine Radtour gemacht.

Vormittags sind wir zum Neandertal-Museum nach Mettmann gefahren. Wir wollten dort schon immer einmal hinfahren und haben diese erste Ferienwoche dazu genutzt.

Das Museum war sehr interessant aber man hat auch schnell das wichtigste durch. Wir haben ungefähr 2 Stunden gebraucht und dabei haben wir uns nicht beeilt.

Nachdem wir das Museum verlassen hatten, sind wir in den Außenbereich zur Fundstelle des gefundenen Neandertalers gelaufen. Die Fundstelle gibt es eigentlich gar nicht mehr. Die Überreste des damals gefundenen Neandertalers wurden in einer Höhle innerhalb eines Kalksteines gefunden. Der gesamte Kalkstein wurde jedoch abgebaut. Das gesamte Neandertal wurde Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts zu einem Kalksteinbruch.

An der Stelle do damals die Höhle war, ist heute ein Aussichtsturm errichtet worden. Die Aussichtsplatttform ist in ca. 18,30m genau auf der Höhe, wo früher einmal die Höhle gewesen ist.

There was no time for sporting activities today either. We only went for a short bike ride in the early evening.

In the morning we went to the Neandertal Museum in Mettmann. We had always wanted to go there and used this first week of our vacation to do so.

The museum was very interesting but you get through the most important things very quickly. It took us about 2 hours and we didn't hurry.

After we left the museum, we walked outside to the site where the Neanderthal man was found. The site no longer actually exists. The remains of the Neanderthal found back then were found in a cave inside a limestone. However, the entire limestone was quarried. The entire Neandertal became a limestone quarry at the beginning of the 20th century.

Today, a viewing tower has been erected on the site of the cave. The viewing platform is about 18.30 meters high, exactly where the cave used to be.
