A coin with coins! (10 Deutsche Mark, 1998)

@summertooth made a post the other day about a cool coin with...coins he has. Well, actually it's a token with coins but still quite cool, so click here to check it out!

So I figured to make a post about an actual coin with coins I have. 🤪 It's actually one of my most newest additions so some of you may even remember it from one of my recent silver unboxings !

So, this is a commemorative 10 Deutche Mark coin minted in 1998 for ...the 50th Anniversary of the Deutsche Mark 😆

The coin reads

The side also features engravings of 7 different mark coins that have been used in the past. Of course, all those have long been taken out of circulation since the replacement of the mark by the Euro in 2002.

As is the case with all the 10 marks coins I have shown you, the other side features prominently a unique design of the imperial chicken eagle

The edge is engraved with the words EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT for UNITY AND JUSTICE AND FREEDOM, the unofficial national motto of Germany

This motto is derived from the third verse of the German national anthem, "Das Lied der Deutschen" (The Song of the Germans). However, please note that national symbols and mottos can change over time, so it's a good idea to check for any updates beyond my last knowledge cutoff in September 2021. (Via chatgpt)

All in all, a beautiful and really unique commemorative piece from Germany, and imo a must have for lovers of the Mark. And unlike what @summertooth has, it's a real coin. And it's made of silver, not junk 😆

Silver Value
Usually these commemorative German marks are made of 0.625 purity, but this is one of the few that come in 0.925. With a mixed weight of 15.5 g that gives us about 14.3 grams of pure silver.

So that's about 11.154 $ worth of silver right there. Good luck getting this coin for that price though, it looks like most seller ask for 20$ + on ebay :)
