In Awe Of Nature - Creativenonfiction#32

Adam Kool

I woke up to the sound of splatters on my rooftop. It was the pitter-patter of the sound of rain coming, I struggled to get off my bed as I was still feeling sleepy, I had to wake up to pack my bags for my journey to my fiance's village.

He had been invited to the wedding ceremony of his stepbrother, who was a few years older than him. The day he asked if I would love to go with him, I was a bit reluctant because I knew he would introduce me to members of his family.

HIM: "Babe, would you like to accompany me to my village? We have a wedding, and I don't want to go alone. If we go on Friday afternoon, we will be back by Sunday".
ME: "I would love to, but I also need permission from my parents. You know, it would be for a few days, and I wouldn't want them to be worried."

Well, at least I had gotten permission, all that was left was for me to pack a few clothes and other things I would need for these few days. After I was done with that, I got ready to go, I went to wait for my fiance at the car park.

After a few minutes, he also arrived, and we were on our way. What interested me in this trip was the way the trees were going past us,the feel of the breeze upon my cheek. I had opened the window a bit as I was enjoying the wonders of nature.

We got there a bit late, and after exchanging pleasantries with some people who were still awake, we were shown to our separate rooms. That night I slept like a baby, because the coolness of the atmosphere was different from where I was coming from.

The next morning, when I woke up, I decided to go clean the compound as I was being taught. On getting outside, I was amazed by what I saw. The beautiful view in front of me was so amazing that my whole being captured it, like a picture taken by my brain.

The cool air seemed like it had a whole different essence on its own, and then the beautiful rocks, on which the fog kind of sat like a crown, made the whole scenery look like a picture from a book.
I loved every bit of this. I swept the compound while still admiring the scene. I had a lot of questions later for my fiance's younger sister, who was based there. She also had a lot of answers for me as to why the rocks and fog were like twins.

At noon, it didn't have that effect; just the rocks were left. They felt like they were really big from afar, which I knew they were. We also went to visit some relatives and saw another thing that made me wonder how possible it was. A small little rock was holding up a very big rock and when I asked "How is this possible?" i got a reply

UNCLE: This is what we call the hand of God; we ourselves don't know how this little rock is able to carry this big one. One thing we know is that our state is blessed with some wonderful natural elements, You should see the other ones we have; this is nothing compared to them.

I was still in awe after his explanation, their state was indeed blessed, the wedding went smoothly and i left the village called "IGEBTI" with the thought that I would one day come visit again.

Nature always has its way of amusing us if we look close enough.

This was a lovely encounter with nature.✨
