Foodie Challenge: My Homemade Mango Ice Cream

Polish_20231119_180844825.jpg

Summer is fruit bearing season which is beneficial to the locals to earn a living right from their own backyard! Actually, there was over supply especially mangoes. The bigger ones go to the market while the smaller ones are sold at the local market.

At the farm, our neighbors tend to have grown their own fruit bearing trees raised by their grandparents, giving a good shade at their backyard's or even at the front of their houses. The beautiful sight of ripe fruits often attracted the passersby that they would try to buy some of it to take home. More often than not, the owners are hospitable enough to just give it to them to share their blessings.

Indian Mangos

We somewhat enjoyed eating the raw crispy Indian mangos which is really mouth watering! But then, because there were already too many of them, we simply couldn't consume it all. The neighbors enjoyed the "free ride" until they're overripe and fell to the ground to rot.

I planned to make an ice cream out of the over ripe mangoes.

Ingredients:

• 20 ripe mangos, peeled and mashed
• 4 cans condensed milk, caramelized
• 4 packs Nestle Cream
• 1 tbsp vanilla

• In a pan/wok, mix the mashed mangos with caramelized condensed milk, stirring occasionally until thickened then add nestle cream and vanilla.
• Pour it in a blender and blend it until flaky and smooth.
• Place it in a tub.
• Freeze overnight.

Since we have more than enough mangoes, I placed more mango tidbits to make it more heavy just like any homemade jams and jellies I've made myself.

There. The kids really enjoyed it.

I made a separate sweetened dragon fruit to blend with the mango ice cream to make a unique taste.

Thank you @sirenahippie for this awesome challenge. Making fruit preserves is one of my passion in addition to craft making.

Mango ice cream sounds like a dream, @sarimanok ❤️ And this particular one looks very tempting. No doubt your kids loved it.

What a beautiful color the dragon fruit has, btw. I can only imagine the taste and exquisite aroma of that colorful mixture.

We have a big mango tree in our front yard; maybe you can come over and help me make tons of ice cream, hehe.

Cheers!

Hi @sarimanok

Good to see you participating in the contest. It's nice to know that your neighbors are generous and sometimes give mangoes to others, it's something really beautiful.

This ice cream is delicious, the mango gives it a beautiful color, a great flavor and a delicious aroma, and when you combine it with condensed milk and vanilla, you give it great creaminess.

It's a shame that you didn't come out making the recipe, as required by the contest conditions.

Anyway, thanks for participating in the contest.

Greetings.

Wow you have plenty of fruits in your backyard. Yes mangoes are a lot in the province. I remembered going below a mango tree after a rain or a windy afternoon because for sure there are lots of mangoes fallen.

Your ice cream looks so creamy.

I can relate to that sis, we are taken deep by the work and doing selfies could only slow us down especially when we have to do lots of things.
