Getting ready to take charge
The most critical age, where they unknowingly need our controlled guidance
Time flies, but memories live with us. This was the kid, whom I was holding on and roaming and now he has grown up to a stage, where we have to listen to their suggestions, and sometimes even they take charge and we are in the back seat, enjoying the ride. It's kind of a transition phase, may be next few years will go like that, and then they become young enough to either request something or throw their decisions to us - ya that's the hard reality and generation gap, isn't it ? In our time, it was a pure request, that too full with fear, but that's completely different now. You have to counsel them in a very friendly manner and just can't throw your decisions on them. If the trust is built between us, then they almost listen to everything what we advise. Reminds me this famous Chanakya Sloka we read in our school times, which is so well suited :
लालयेत् पंचवर्षाणि दशवर्षाणि ताडयेत्। प्राप्ते तु षोडशे वर्षे पुत्रं मित्रवदाचरेत्॥
Fondle them for five years, control them for next ten years and once they are sixteen, behave like a friend. A verse said 2344 years back is so well suited for current generation. In fact, it's even difficult to control them till 15, if you loose the control once, if they become stubborn. And unfortunately, most of us lost control in Covid as things that were not supposed to be given to them were in their hands. But by God's grace the boy changed at the last moment and now is a lot more responsible. He now understands and accepts as I told in this post. He sacrificed the day for my parents and waited for the evening and I was obliged to show up for the dinner.
They had planned it well, as I was not here for more than a week and had called in couple of her school friends and their family at our favorite restaurant.
A mini low key get-together because, birthdays are supposed to be not celebrated in our family as per some old beliefs, but then as I said, you cannot simply say NO to everything. The chef even knows that it won't be celebrated with a big cake cutting, but he still brought in a miniature cake to make him happy.
Coming back, the beautiful empty road teased us to take some photos.
Imagine, in the midnight, when we are not happy with a selfi, a boy coming in cycle, we ask him to stop by (smokes coming out of mouth - that typical winter experience) and takes some photos and he shoots like a pro.
It was so much fun......None of his friends were invited for the party, because it was strictly a no celebration on that day. But then he wanted to go out with his friends only on another day, and it was a YES from our side. They do all the planning, like choosing the right restaurant, menu etc, all I did is drop them and then bring back and of course take some photos...
I loved the place as well, quite unique.
I have already got a back account open for him and his UPI set, so that he can pay wherever needed ( of course, I transfer the money). Boys always LOVE to see some funds in their purse ( or UPI Wallet in this digital world), isn't it ? I have felt it, do you agree ?

It’s indeed a beautiful thing to see how time goes by. It feels good to see that a child whom you were holding his hands to work a few years ago is already a big boy and girl and even as tall as you are…
Being a mother the passing time gives me both thrills and the fears. I am afraid of the changes that 5he future may hold but I am also thrilled to witness my sons' growth and see them take the responsibilities of their action.
Parenting perhaps had never been that difficult as it has become in this digital era where everything is in their hands and we need to be more logical in explaining them why we deem certain things inappropriate.
May God help us give the best guide and parenting to our kids

Sometimes I wonder, how their parenting would be.
If I look at my childhood time, our parents didn't have to worry about what we watched on T.V. There was only a limited exposure.
About the moral conduct, we had certain guidelines about how we should make a distance from opposite gender, and we couldn't dare to ask why. We just followed as we were instructed
Going out and spending time with family is very awesome and a beautiful thing and am pretty sure you guys really had a lot of fun.
Oh yes, spending that time together is the most valuable thing.

Being a father of a son and two daughters I think we should not force our decisions at our childrens.We should give them confidence and should provide them proper counceling.
We should create a friendly environment with them.

I think you did a very good job with your son. He looks confident and carries himself well. I think it is good practice to let kids make some decisions on their own, and let them make mistakes while they are young and still with you. You can then help them get back up and learn from their mistakes, and even give them guidance on what they could have done better.
He is growing. I know it will be hard but someday, they'll decided for themselves.
He will become a responsible person as you have been a good father to them.
That's right, the days at this age are very special and there are many things to take care of and enjoy life. It's good that you spend time with your family and all. People enjoy together with each other, go for a walk, then this is the real life.
