Borne adventrous
She is the bravest among us.
Adventure is in her genes, she just loves it. And this Leadership camp in her school is the best annual event, that she never misses.
Usually it happens in November, but then this year they scheduled it early. They have a residential school which is far from the city, so the environment is much better there. Every year, they pack all winter garments along with a blanket, but this year, it was not necessary. However, there was an advantage as well, they did not have to wait for hot water in the morning to bathe.
Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality, and the kids are in the building stage. It's these early stage exposure, that helps them to realize their potential and try hard to scale up to face real life challenges later. So as a parent, we always encourage them to go to such program. I have met some parents who are reluctant, to allow their kids to go for such adventurous program, because they feel there is risk. Even the school makes us sign a consent form for these risks, but hey, life is full of challenges and they have to face them. One cannot attain the courage to face these challenges by simply sitting at home and not facing them. More ever, where isn't there is a risk ? You walk in the roads, there is a risk of a vehicle hitting you. Would we stop walking ? Rather we need to learn to be careful and face it.
The event is a two day program and their school dose plan several events to keep these kids engaged and enjoy the fun. And we just drop them at the school and collect them back - so she was on her own for these two days, that gives her some learning there as well.
They have some very trained professionals under whose guidance these events are carried out. Definitely they take care of all the extra measures because these kids are not very mature, but still there is risk. Now if one would argue, that what will happen, if the rope breaks ? Well, you go for a surgery and the doctor also asks you to sign a consent form. What would you do ?
There is a saying - who dares wins, and its always true. We have to teach our kids to face the challenges and honestly I feel, their challenges are going to be tougher than ours. Because the rate at which the population is growing, the competition will be stiffer and they have to go to the extra miles to achieve something significant and these early stage trainings are going to help for sure. And there is fun of course, once you start enjoying them.
Some people have reservation in thinking about girls, they feel boys should be more adventurous. But in my opinion, girls should be given equal or even more opportunity. Because if you train a girl, then you help build a family later.
They complain at home, reject our offerings but they learn to adjust here. You just can't teach these at home for sure.
The certificate is just a testimony of her attendance in the event, but in reality, she definitely learnt a lot and enjoyed the program to the fullest.
And appreciate the school to share all these photographs, to preserve these nice memories of our child during the camp.

I also think that such programs add confidence in kids but I also think like other parents. If there is a risk, danger, I will not allowed my child to join it. Its a parent care no doubt parents are very sensitive towards their childs.
Well, there is risk everywhere, people fall in bathe room and die. Isn't that a risk ? We can't just fear and live this life.

A great program for children to lose that fear of facing adverse situations in life will be very helpful in the next steps of their life, excellent decision
The leadership camp is a training ground for them to acquire survival skills which they can use for the future.

It is important for children to be challenged and to step outside of their comfort zone, and leadership camps are a great way to do that.
I agree that it is important for both boys and girls to have opportunities to be adventurous. Girls are just as capable as boys, and they deserve to have the same experiences.
