Taylor Swift's fans in Edinburgh danced so hard it was registered as seismic activity. According to the analysis of seismograph data of the British Geological Survey (BGS), the national earthquake monitoring agency of the United Kingdom; Taylor Swift's record-breaking concerts in Edinburgh are now scientifically recognized as "ground shaking", with earthquake measurements detected up to 6km from the venue.

British Geological Survey (BGS) shared Taylor Swift seismograph data from its X account and made the following statement;

Quake it off! Seismometers around Edinburgh were triggered by the rapturous Taylor Swift crowds at Murrayfield Stadium over the weekend. Source

BGS monitoring stations around Edinburgh recorded seismic activity caused by Taylor Swift concerts, and each of the three evenings followed a similar seismographic pattern; "…Ready For It?", "Cruel Summer" and "champagne problems" caused the most significant seismic activity each night. BGS's seismograph data shows that the most enthusiastic dancing occurred on Friday night, when she sang "…Ready For It?".

Seismographic data summary

  • The seismic activity from the concert was detected at two monitoring stations, the furthest of which was 6 km away at the BGS office in the Lyell Centre
  • The activity was mainly generated by fans dancing in time to the music and reached its peak at 160 beats per minute (bpm) during ‘…Ready For It?’, where the crowd was transmitting approximately 80 kW of power (equivalent to around 10 to16 car batteries)
  • Based on the maximum amplitude of motion (the distance the ground moves), the Friday night event was the most energetic by a small margin, recording 23.4 nanometres (nm) of movement, versus 22.8 nm and 23.3 nm on the Saturday and Sunday respectively

Taylor Swift is undoubtedly a great singer, and she gives excellent performances especially in her concerts. Also, her team is very good. She is able to interact and impress her fans with her excellent performance at her concerts, so the seismographic data is not surprising. I went to a Taylor Swift concert before and the immediate area around the concert venue was literally shaking.

As far as I know, it is not legal to share videos of her concerts in Edinburgh, so I will not share them, but I have listed the videos of the songs mentioned above below.

Taylor Swift - …Ready For It?

Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer

Taylor Swift - champagne problems

Enjoy the music and stay with Love

Taylor Swift's concerts quite literally shook the ground in Edinburgh - a unique musical phenomenon captured by scientific data. It's a testament to the power of her live performances.

It's not so surprising that the energetic crowd were able to generate such an effect, but it is a bit scary as it opens up a lot of unwanted possibilities if persistent.
I think Taylor swift keeps getting better with time and the love she receives from fans is out of this world.

I think it's not that surprising. Taylor Swift has a lot of loyal fans and I think such effects could have happened.

I won! Fantastic! Count me in for another round, please! Thank you so very much!

Is this a new way to rare songs? While the information is interesting, it's not really surprising, especially when large groups of people move rhythmically. In terms of Taylor Swift, I'm really not into her or her music, though I can appreciate some of her songs and her skill. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

One of my favorite songs by Taylor Swift is "All Too Well." This track, from her fourth studio album, Red, showcases her exceptional storytelling ability and emotional depth. The song captures the bittersweet memories of a past relationship with poignant lyrics and a haunting melody. Swift's vivid imagery and heartfelt delivery make "All Too Well" resonate deeply with listeners, and the extended version on Red (Taylor's Version) adds even more layers to the narrative. It’s a masterful blend of personal reflection and universal themes of love and loss, making it a standout in her discography.
