Getting a New Art Set

Sketching

I have been neglecting my sketching in the last couple of months as I have been busy with a new assignment at work and have not been able to concentrate too much in the evenings, plus it has been dark and it is harder for me to see without the daylight.

However, I received a nice art set as a gift and I am hoping this will spur me on to continue with my hobby as it can be so rewarding.

It is in a nice case which helps keep things together and allows me to take my things to different rooms when I want to draw something easily.

The first layer has some nice oil pastel crayons that I often like to use to add some colour, plus a range of brushes for some painting.

This can be used with the paints that are also included. It will be great to think of a project to be able to get to use them.

With my case it could also double as a suitcase if I want to take it to work and look more professional. I have wanted to have an artset in a case for some time, so it was great to get one as a gift and give me some more options when sketching and do any art projects.

I am really happen that it came with some more colored pencils which are what I like to use the most when sketching. I no longer need to use those of my daughters! haha

Having them in the case will be great to help me keep things well organised and easily accessible for when I need to sketch or add some color to some of my projects.

With my new art set, there is no excuse not to pick up the pencil and get sketching each day!

Happy Sketching!

Thanks for reading.

Nice! :D
Fun thing to try with oil pastels: get some turpentine or turpentine substitute and a paintbrush. Make a palette with the oil pastels by coloring blobs of whatever colors you want to use on a piece of paper or cardboard that you don't mind being ruined (scrap paper is great for this). Dip paintbrush in turpentine, rub around in oil pastel on paper, and paint with it. It turns out kinda like watercolor. :)

That sounds really cool, I haven't tried such a thing, but do like new ideas. I particularly like to paint wood and bought some special wood paint for the odd project.

Now you will just need to keep your daughter out of your case! It looks like a really great set. I wouldn't even know where to begin with it. Art was never one of my strong suits.

Thanks, yeah she like to borrow my stuff and is pretty good at art stuff too. It is hard getting started, but gets easier with practice.

That look fancy, well its me talking about something I know nothing about 😅 but those are the best gifts when ppl think about your hobbies, it always take me by surprise when someone buys me something tech related or Formula 1, the only one who really know my hobbies is my wife, this are the kind of gifts that spark things again, hope it keeps you motivated 👍✌️

That's a nice set, should serve you well to express those artistic skills. Never been much of an artist myself, as a matter of fact can't draw to save my life! Enjoy!

It's a beautiful artset, I like the different color pencils and other tools put into it. It makes room for a more creative and expanded style of sketches.
Looking forward to your first sketch from this new toolset :)

I started last year and have done a few posts, but was not so active the last few months. I hope to change that now.

I am very far from the drawing skills myself, but my wife and daughter are into it; they possess some apparently similar kind of marker sets, so I already saw what stuff can be produced using them. I wish you well at that! art and creating art is a mental-healthy and fruitful thing. 🙏

Where do you find the time for that kind of stuff, or is it because I am just too much into writing and following the market?
