A SElFLESS AND SACRIFICIAL LOVE

What's greater than a father's love? I don't think there is, because it's a great feeling to have a dad who cares for you and loves you affectionately. Someone who is ready to do anything to see you successful, even if it includes giving you his all. That's the kind of love my father has for me.

My father is caring and affectionate. He loves me and the rest of our family members like his life or existence depends on us. He makes sure we don't lack anything and works hard every day for himself and for his family.

I love him so much because he has shown me what love is, and that's why I wake up every day to pray to God to give me a man like him or someone that will love me more than he does because I have experienced a lot of affection and care from my father.

I could remember some years ago when I wanted to gain admission to the university. He processed admission for me into a private university to study law. After he heard there was a slot that allows students to study in private universities for free, he bought the form for me and paid a huge sum of money that he is supposed to use for business to sponsor me. Though the form is not meant to be sold, in Nigeria, you have to pay to get some opportunities.

My cousin's sister uses this type of scholarship to gain admission to the university. Looking at the way his younger brother's daughter is at a private university studying the course she wanted, my father wants that kind of life for me too.

But unfortunately, COVID happens all over the world and affects the scholarship program. I waited for months at home during the COVID period because there was a lockdown, hoping to get a message from the people in charge of the scholarship, but I didn't.

My father has to sell a property that he values the most to help me process my admission into another university, as the first didn't work out. He sold that property because he didn't have money on hand at that particular time, having spent a lot of money the first time. But seeing that I am the first child and daughter of the family, he didn't want me to risk staying at home for a whole year. That means I would have to write another jamb because I won't be able to use the jamb result I have for the coming year.

Thankfully, the second admissions process worked, and by next year, if the government doesn't put up another strike, I will be a graduate. I used my first WAEC and JAMB result to gain admission into a higher institution, and that's all thanks to my father, because imagine a person who has the ability to read and study but doesn't have a person to sponsor her.

That's why my father is special to me because his love for me is selfless, and the fact he sacrifices things for me shows that man can do anything to make me successful.

He showed me concern and support, and I felt everything within my soul. That's why I love him, because it takes a lot of love for a person to sacrifice things for you.
