## #pobphotocontest - Crazy cocktail night

Here we are participating for the first time in this week's photo contest about drinks by @friendlymoose –POBphotocontest. First of all, I thought I would post the photo of the first time I tried mate, as I live in Argentina since 4 and half years ago. But, then I found photos of some cocktails from a crazy night and I decided for the fun part 😁.

The photo was taken in March 2021. My cousin was studying at culinary school to become an international chef. She enrolled in a Cocktail course to complete her academic studies. Nervous, one day she asked us for help for her final exam of the course in which she was asked to create a drink -which in addition- she had to prepare live in front of her professors and classmates. So she needed to practice the movements and the combination of different drinks in order to create a new one.

With the excuse that at that time in Argentina there were still some restrictions of places where you could not go out, discos (or boliches as they call them here) and bars were closed. We accepted the invitation to help her in her task. She bought the cocktail kit containing: the cocktail shaker, ice tongs, measuring cup, spoon, fork, strainer, mortar, pourer and metal spout; plus the base drinks such as vodka, rum, tequila, whiskey, juices (orange, peach, strawberry and pineapple), baileys, grenadine, among others. One night we were their guinea pigs with a cocktail tasting.

I remember I tried the Sex on the Beach and the Caipiroska both prepared with vodka; the margarita with tequila and I was hooked on the mojito which is made with rum -I had about 4. I don't want to tell you how we all ended up that night 😁 What I can tell you is that the drink she created was a success, she decided to make it very tropical and Venezuelan. She took as a base a mix with tamarind, also known as Indian Date, but this story is for another post.

Hola Hivers,

Acá estamos participando por primera vez en el concurso de fotografía de @friendlymoose –POBphotocontest de esta semana sobre bebidas. Pensé en primer lugar, colocarle la foto de la primera vez que probé el mate, vivo en Argentina desde hace 4 años y medio. Pero, luego encontré fotos perdidas de algunos cócteles de una noche loca y me decidí por la parte más agradable 😁.

La foto fue tomada en marzo de 2021. Mi prima se formaba en la escuela de gastronomía para hacerse chef internacional. Adicionalmente, inscribió un curso de Coctelería para completar sus estudios académicos. Nerviosa, un día nos pidió ayuda para su examen final del curso en el que le pidieron crear una bebida de autor -que además- debía preparar en vivo ante sus profesores y compañeros de clase. Por lo que necesitaba practicar los movimientos y la combinación de diferentes tragos para poder crear uno nuevo.

Con la excusa de que para esa fecha en Argentina todavía existían algunas restricciones de lugares, no se podía salir, discotecas (o boliches como le llaman acá) y bares estaban cerrados. Aceptamos la invitación de ayudarla en su tarea. Compró el kit de coctelería que contiene: la coctelera, pinza de hielo, vaso medida, cuchara tenedor, colador, mortero, vertedor y pico metálico; más las bebidas base como vodka, ron, tequila, whisky, jugos (naranja, durazno, fresa y piña), baileys, gancia, granadina, entre otros. Una noche fuimos sus conejillos de india con una degustación de cócteles.

Recuerdo que probé el Sex on the Beach y la Caipiroska ambos preparados con vodka; la margarita con tequila y me quedé enganchada con el mojito que se hace con ron –me tomé como 4. No les quiero contar como terminamos todos esa noche 😁. Lo que si les puedo decir es que la bebida de autor que creó fue todo un éxito, decidió hacerlo muy tropical y venezolano. Tomó como base una mezcla con tamarindo, conocido también como Dátil de la India, pero esta historia es para otro post.
