We Are Alive! April 19th, 2024 Our Kitchen School 7x4

Our children was having some trouble with their multiplication tables. We tried having them memorize them and we quizzed them, but what was once in their heads has faded and it's causing a lot of frustration with their current school papers.

So after a break from normal schoolwork, our children practiced "times tales" that uses stories to help children memorize multiplication using mnemonics. The children remember a story, to remember the answer to multiplication questions. It worked great!

The answer is in the story! Watch this 10 minute video and memorize 7x4 and 9x9. By memorizing the story, you will memorize the answer to these math problems!

Mrs. Weeks (7) sat on a chair (4) and caught a pair of boots (2) and eight tasty fish for dinner (8). 7 x 4 = 28

Remember the story, remember the answer!

Ever since going through this program, memorizing times tables have been very easy for my children. If you ask my 2 year old a times question, you might find he will tell you the correct answer, not because he's a genius but because he remembers the story!

What a relief! We don't have to be brilliant genius' to memorize times tables.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Bank Bailout Special!

It's happening, folks. The banks are going under! To educate our children about what is going on, there is a "Bank Bailout Book Bonanza" going on with the Tuttle Twins! Use coupon code FORTY for 40% off your purchase! Check out the books here.

It used to be like that in childhood, whenever it was time to study, there was bound to be a little trouble.

Interesting story telling with the multiplication tables.
During my childhood days. My classmates just memorise the answer in Mandarin as I was in a Mandarin speaking primary public school.
It is for example for the multiplication of 4 it will souls like this indirect translation.:

Four One Four
Four Two Eight
Four Three Twelve
Four Four Sixteen
Four Five Twenty...

And so on. This type of memorisation technique has been taught for years and after multipl decades, I still remember the formula by just reciding the pair and automatically the answer is the next.

We had to memorize straight forward during our childhood; no mnemonic, no story tale, only the angry red eyes of our father 😢.

It's good to see that there are easier ways to memorize those. Good for the children!
