( EN / DE ) Every garden owner is familiar with the problem that at a certain point in time there is suddenly far too much of a type of vegetable ready to be harvested. This is how we are currently doing with the zucchini. It's a good thing that, in addition to being able to freeze them for the winter, there are also so many delicious recipes with this universal vegetable.
Jeder Gartenbesitzer kennt wohl dieses Problem, dass zu einer gewissen Zeit pötzlich viel zu viel von einer Gemüsesorte reif zur Ernte ist. So geht es uns momentan gerade mit den Zucchini. Gut, dass es neben der Möglichkeit sie für den Winter einzufrieren auch so viele leckere Rezepte mit diesem Universalgemüse gibt.

Da wir nun auch die erste richtig große Zucchini ernten konnten war es endlich mal wieder soweit, die leckeren Zucchini Gordon Bleu zuzubereiten. Das genaue Rezept hatte ich schon mal gepostet, ihr findet es hier:

It tastes heavenly every time. But it is definitely better if the zucchini is peeled beforehand and what do you do with the peel? You should definitely eat them, especially with home-grown vegetables, as they often contain the most vital substances.
Das schmeckt jedesmal himmlisch. Es wird aber auf jeden Fall besser, wenn die Zucchini vorher geschält wird und was macht man dann mit der Schale? Gerade bei selbst angebautem Gemüse sollte man sie unbedingt mitessen, da sie oft die meisten Vitalstoffe enthält. Naheliegend, mit den Resten eine feine Suppe zu kochen:

ZUCCHINI SOUP RECIPE

Some ghee or butter
Fry finely chopped onion
Cut zucchini and one or two potatoes into small pieces, add and pour on water. Salt and simmer for at least an hour.

Etwas Ghee oder Butter
Klein geschnittene Zwiebel anbraten
Zucchini und ein oder zwei Kartoffeln klein schneiden, zufügen und mit Wasser aufgiessen. Salzen und mindestens eine Stunde köcheln lassen.

When the vegetables and potatoes are soft, simply puree them with a hand blender. Season to taste, this time I used marjoram, and then season again with salt. Complete.
Wenn Gemüse und Kartoffeln weich ist einfach mit einem Stabmixer pürrieren. Nach Geschmack würzen, ich habe diesmal Majoran genommen, und dann nochmal mit Salz abschmecken. Fertig.

The soup was a lovely dinner and there were two leftovers from the Gordon Bleu, which are also delicious eaten cold.
The best thing about it is that almost the entire zucchini was used, only the two end pieces can be put back on the compost to become soil by next year. I also saved a seed for next year, so a whole plant will probably grow from it.

Die Suppe war ein herrliches Abendessen und dazu waren auch noch zwei von den Gordon Bleu übrig, die auch kalt gegessen sehr lecker sind.
Das schönste daran, fast die gesamte Zucchini wurde verwendet, lediglich die beiden Endstücke dürfen zurück auf den Kompost um bis zum nächsten Jahr zu Erde zu werden. Auch einen Kern für nächstes Jahr habe ich aufgehoben, da wird wahrscheinlich wieder eine ganze Pflanze daraus wachsen.

Congrats on your big harvest, and thank you for sharing this awesome recipe. This is a great alternative to bread, and I have no doubt that it is tasty.
I have been craving soups lately, but I think it has a lot to do with the continuous rain that we've been having here in the UK with temperatures that feel like autumn 🤗

Thats what I thought today. We still have very warm days but the evenings are rather cold, so the soup was just perfect.
Its amazing how much one plant can produce, there are a lot more to harvest the next weeks, but then most will be frozen to have homegrown food in Winter too.

Zucchini is one of my favorite ingredients when I cook vegetables and if it's in cream... it's the best of the best, some black pepper and I grill it to give it a smoky flavor.

Uh, das sieht lecker aus. Und schmeckt bestimmt gleich nochmal so gut, weil's aus dem eigenen Garten ist. Geht zumindest uns immer so.
Und ja, das "Problem" mit dem Überschuss zur Erntezeit kenne ich. Auf einmal ist Frauchen zwei Tage beschäftigt um alles zu verarbeiten zu haltbaren Dingen. Am liebsten ist mir da die Erbeerernte, wenn's wieder ein dutzend neue Marmeladengläser gibt. 😊

Gestern haben wir Kartoffeln geerntet, kam gut was bei rum.
Ich kann sie leider immer noch nicht überzeugen hier auch mal zu posten. 😟

Wir hatten auch schon ein paar mal Kartoffeln. Meine Frau macht maximal man kleinere Videos mit dem Fotos von Feld oder dem Ausflug und postet das auf Instagram. Alles weitere ist ihr zuviel.

in meiner Kindheit brachten die italienischen Gastarbeiter die Zucchetti in die Schweiz. So durfte auch ich dieses sehr grosse Gemüse (60-80 cm) kennen lernen. Die Kerne wurden entfernt und das Gemüse in feine Scheiben geschnitten, in angedünsteten Zwiebeln sautiert und gut gewürzt. Darüber etwas Käse, vorzugsweise Parmesan, und ein frisches, dunkles Brot dazu. Für mich war das ein sehr leckeres Abendessen.
