A couple days without her
Exams are over
"I can finally be active on hive and also be productive. Learn C++, upgrade myself and all my tools on minetest, everything has been planned and accounted for."
I even downloaded an app, set reminders,
"It's all going to be perfect."
It's the first day, I achieved everything.
"Yes I'm on track, now I better do everything according to plan for the second day so I can build a routine and get accustomed to it."
The 2nd day and the 3rd day go according to plan.
"Oh wow, I'm actually doing it, I'm surprised but I can actually do it."
But then the fourth day comes and things don't go anywhere near planned. I come home seriously tired and weak. I have some things I have to do so I force my tired self to complete them before falling asleep.
I fall asleep really early so I wake up really early at midnight. I decide to come online and get ready for the day. I try switching my pc on but she won't turn on. I'm confused at first.
"It can't be something serious. Probably excess current or something"
I remove the battery, push the power button for a minute, put it back and try again, same thing. I try all the common troubleshooting methods I know but she won't still come on. She just shows light for a second and goes back off. I start to get afraid but I just stay calm and put her away.
After using my mobile for a while I end up sleeping off again. I wake up the next morning and she's still not responding. I have to take her to a technician. There's one who's workshop is really close to where laptop parts are sold, but his place is quite far from my house. and then there's one whose workshop is closer to my house but access to materials could make the repair costlier.
"I will go to the closer one. After all, it's not a serious issue. The little extra cost will save me some stress as well. It's a win win."
I take it to the technician, after checking it turns out it's a RAM issue.
"OK, not that much of a serious issue."
But then after that he realizes the power IC is also damaged and has to be replaced.
"Oh wow, now that one is serious, it's on the motherboard."
He doesn't have a power IC available so now he has to go to the material market the next day.
He ends up going late and it turns out the sellers are closing in preparation for Sallah holiday.
The holiday lasts till Friday so now as it stands I am without her till then. I'm pissed cause maybe if I'd gone the farther route I'd have done it the first day.
I know it sounds lazy to say It's the reason everything isn't organized anymore, but damn I've planned everything on my pc. Everything is well organized there and there's so much I can do there so much faster.
Before I got her I used to do everything on mobile and then it took lots of effort but since it was the only way I knew i was ok with it. But since I started using my pc. I have found it difficult to use my phone for a lot of things, especially hive related things like playtoearn games, transactions and all that. Also I need my pc to learn C++, and minetest game on mobile is so much harder than on pc.
Every Time I miss her I tell myself I survived without her and I can do it again, but damn it's hard. Thankfully it's just a temporary thing. Till then I'll have to get used to using my mobile again for now.
Hahaha 😂😂😂, oh sorry bos, so sorry for your dearly beloved companion (laptop), I hope you will fix her soon, but wait oo, better don't give excuse because of her oo, grab your phone and attend to your new resolution this time around. I know that using pc makes things faster and that you are already used to it, but then, time is ticking and very soon, you will get busy with school again. Let your mind and Ur soul return back to using mobile first and your body will follow suit.

We all have what we are used to. I'm more closer to my phone than laptop and that was because it's easy for me to use . Dang I'm might not touch my laptop for 3 days 😂.
It's so sadden it's happens that way I know how hard it can be a day without me having data looks like hell not to talk about the gadgets. I wish you get her back soon brother and good luck 🤞

He's replacing that one. I didn't even know Ram could be revived. I Sha told him I'll collect the old one. If it can be revived I'll do it and add it.

I'm lucky that my friend taught me the basics of computer engineering and I self-taught myself the rest, but that doesn't mean I enjoy it lol
I don't know how anyone can put up with the meticulous nature of troubleshooting as a job day after day, I guess it is just a mindse5t. My intelligence is definitely skewed toward the creative side and the analytical, doggedness of troubleshooting drives me mad.
But it means I can sort my own rig out usually when it decides to throw a hissy fit.

You're lucky you're able to do things yourself. Honestly at times I wish I could do the repairs myself cause I don't trust the technicians. I'm studying Computer Engineering so I'm confident I'd be able to do things myself soon.
This has actually been a bit of a learning experience for me because I've gone to do research on why the power IC got damaged, even watched a couple vids of how the repair process is supposed to be.
I'm hoping by this time tomorrow I'd be able to use her again.
I've got to be honest b0s... if it was a problem with part of the motherboard I'd be clueless how to fix it other than buying a replacement motherboard.
My computer tech skills run to diagnosing the problem component (through troubleshooting or diagnostic tools), and i find it's most often one of 3 things, 1: a power supply issue (too much tech for too small a PSU), 2: a RAM problem or 3: a GFX (graffix card problem).
That's if it won't power up, but I'm lucky an old friend has a computer repair shop, so he doesn't mind me driving down and swapping out components until i find the culprit.
Trying to replace and solder parts onto the motherboard is way beyond my skill set though 😂 I'd be tempted to just buy a new MB instead if i was sure that was the issue.

Here is a picture of the gaming rig i built over 12 years ago... and it's still going strong. I've had to upgrade to 16 GB of ram and buy a new GFX card, but if the water cooler (for the cpu) or motherboard went i couldn't afford to replace them.
I'd have to lean on my friend to fix it for me.
Perhaps, swap work for work. He's a computer wizz but can't write for sht. So, i reckon if i fully SEO'd his website for him, he'd just give me the spare parts.
