During my last weekend, I had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Memorial in Savyon, which is located in one of the wealthiest municipalities in Israel. The town is primarily composed of privately-owned villas, and the Holocaust Memorial serves as a reminder of the tragic events that occurred during the Holocaust. The memorial, consisting of 20 sculptures made of basalt stone, is a beautiful tribute to the memory of those who were lost in the Holocaust.

The sculptures, created by the talented sculptor Mark Meller, are thoughtfully placed among olive trees in a small green grove. The peaceful setting provides a tranquil atmosphere for visitors to reflect on the tragic events that happened during the Holocaust. The sculptures' theme, "Talking Stones," is a powerful reminder of the importance of sharing and remembering the stories of those who perished.

To reach the memorial, I decided to take a bicycle ride along the Arugot Habosem path, which runs through almost the entire town. The scenic route provided a beautiful ride that allowed me to take in the stunning scenery and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

Upon arriving at the memorial, I took my time to explore and reflect on the significance of the event. The sculptures are incredibly detailed, and each one requires careful observation to fully appreciate the artist's vision. Despite my best efforts to convey the meaning behind the sculptures, I felt that some of the finer details were lost in photos and could only be experienced in person.

My visit to the Holocaust Memorial was an incredibly moving and thought-provoking experience. The fact that the memorial is accessible to everyone, free of charge, and open 24/7 is a testament to the value that is placed on this crucial remembrance. It is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to learn about and understand the atrocities that happened during the Holocaust and ensure that we never forget the lessons of the past.
