Splinterland's : Reactivating my third land plot.

I am the owner of the 3 land plots in the Splinterland's ecosystem and with my experience, one thing I can tell you that in Splinterland's, owning the plot is much easier than activating your plot and do earning from it especially if the plot is not the grain plot. I had earlier activated this plot as "SPS" producing plot, and I observed that the amount of resources that I am using to produce SPS costs more if compared to buying the SPS from the open market. I stopped production of SPS and wondering for quite some time if I can use this plot for other resources too?

I checked and found that I can create a wood logging camp in it, and it can be used for wood production afterwards. I was a little disappointed as I want to get it as a grain farm, so the calculation of the workers producing and workers consuming, and taxes remain simple. Anyways, I proceeded for the wood looging camp. Construction took some 7 days (and may be 5000 grains, I actually forget now, because building completed a couple of days ago.) Once the building was constructed, I assigned the workers and start producing the wood from the land plot.

When I started producing Wood, I did some rough calculations and determined that the Wood production is looking profitable, unlike SPS mining, where the yield became negative for me, and I had to stop production.

So I decided to harvest my wood production and decided to calculate if I am making money or not. When you harvest your production, there is 10% tax on the production. (Not sure if this tax is provided to the Keep/Castle owner or if it get burned and have some distribution mechanism.)

So after harvesting my production, I got to see that cost require for harvesting was 11152 grain and wood produced is 5113 wood. I checked in the pool that 11152 grain if sold by me will bring me 184 DEC and if I sell my 5113 wood it will fetch 302 DEC. I actually sold my Wood and pocketed DEC, much-needed DEC for me, as I am looking to upgrade my cards.

So at current scenario, all 3 plots are doing production which I sell for DEC and finally my reactivation of the third plot is successful.

Owning land is easier but it is tougher to build.

In the start, I said that owning a plot is easy because you can buy plenty of plots under $15 from the market, but for production , you need to stake DEC and DEC stake can be maximum of 50000 DEC per plot based upon your card/worker used in the plot. Now good worker or good cards are the alpha collection cards followed by beta collection cards and so on. Now if you go on checking the price of alpha and beta cards, you will find how expensive these max level cards in regular foil, forget about the "gold" foils. For a single plot, 5 workers are needed and now if you compare these cost then you will understand that how cheap are plots if compared to the cost of developing these plots.

So everyone use the cards of different level and different collection and get different outcome. So when I said my SPS mining is giving negative yield, it does not mean that all Splinterland's player is getting negative yield. Based on their cards used, they might be earning good.

Splinterland also introduces land cards, and currently, in market they do not look cheap either. I am happy to use all of my 3 lands profitably but if I use max cards of those legacy set, then my profit will be much higher. It is one of the reasons why so many lands are still undeveloped.

Things change over time so I think it's a good idea to check what is best every month at least. They are making quite a few changes that allow you to use land resources, and it just depends on what people need.

The hype for resources such as wood has slowed since all land cards have been forged. Still good to earn passive income with the resources. I did the same operating my third plot about a couple weeks ago and agree playing land is easy but gathering resources is a challenge. Good luck on your lands.

So it means, I have to calculate periodically and stop production once it become unfavourable.

That is true but can spin it differently. Periodically you review and find one resource is higher in value than to another so now you can reallocate resources to produce the most valued assets.
