REFLECTION ON SECOND CHANCES

Life barely goes the way we want it to. It comes with imperfections, mistakes, and sometimes missed opportunities. Sometimes, we choose paths that turn out to be not what we envisioned, We go into relationships that turn out badly than we expected it to. We meet people that turn out betraying and traumatizing us in the process. And in these moments, the idea of second chances becomes really something to think about.

Second chances are more than giving someone an opportunity to try again. It's letting people who have once hurt us, duped us, betrayed us, back into our life's, give them an opportunity to refine themselves.

And in these moments, I can't help but wonder, do people truly deserve a second chance? Is it safe to let people who have once hurt us back into our lives? Is it a smart choice to trust people who have betrayed us? The idea of second chances is a bit scary for me. What assurance have we that those people have really changed. Do they deserve a second chance?

From my perspective, I think second chances are worth trying, taking a shot at. Because after a failed first attempt, we get an opportunity to learn from our past mistakes and redefine ourselves, choosing the right path this time. First chances are often taken for granted. We tend to misuse our first opportunity, may not do it intentionally, or we could do it out of ignorance. But as the weight of our failure, mistakes and actions sits heavily on us, we become aware, intentional even about righting the wrong.

Also we need to take into consideration that second chances are never easy for any one seeking to start all over again. It requires us to face our fears, our doubts, our past and sometimes judgment from other people. It can be a hard pill to swallow. But the very act of seeking a second chance after a failed first attempt proves courage, and strength. It is a proof that change is real and can be made possible with Intentionality.

At the very last, I believe second chances aren't about wiping off the past. It's about learning from it, growing from it and choosing a different path from the ones we would normally take. It's about being intentional, accepting responsibility and having hope for a better future. So while I reflect on this concept of second chances, I can't help but be reminded that while we cannot change the past, we can rewrite our future.
