Mind keeps changing modes

I keep seeing this a lot. One week I have a train of thought, and that train of thoughts disappear the next week. When I get that train of thought, I spend a lot of time exploring that thought, and I end up procrastinating the work that I'm really supposed to do. Some of these thoughts have reached the reality stage, but most only do so if the same train of thought continues for the next week. If I ever wonder that I should stop this train of thought because it is hardly becoming reality, I start questioning my existence and my purpose. It becomes overcomplicated.

I like this thought process that keeps happening in my mind, and I fuel it all the time. This is what I think is keeping me alive. It is just not about the coding that I do or the application that I build. Most of the time, because of this train of thought, I end up solving some problems when I'm in the shower because that's the best time we get a lot of solutions in our minds. Along with the body, our mind also gets cleaned up, I guess. But sometimes it is very hard to control my thoughts. I get deep into some of the thoughts, and suddenly, after a few days, I notice that I completely stop doing that activity, and something else becomes interesting for me.

For example, one week I spend a lot of time exploring options to build a game. But after about a week's time, I end up focusing on something totally different, and my interest in building this game completely goes out of my mind. In some cases, I might as well have a half-baked solution already built. I will not have the interest to pursue that further. I'm able to understand that only persistence plays a very important role, but it becomes hard for me to stay persistent because something else becomes important to me, and I end up spending time on the other activity.

I read a lot of books that talk about this. But from my experience, this appears to be a condition that will never have a permanent solution. Some temporary distractions or discipline definitely work, but not for long.

I feel you on this as it happens to me as well. I think that our brain gets too many impulses from the outside world (digital one mostly) and it opens a lot of pathways that are left for exploring. And at different point one or the other fires up. But while this could be seen as creative, myself I've gotten to the conclusion that it is getting me more trying and defocus from the real, big and important things that I can achieve. And sometimes I am imposing to myself to refocus.
