In tribal communities, goat skin is cooked and eaten as part of traditional cuisine. In many parts of the world too, goat skin is considered a delicacy, prepared in dishes like curried goat skin. I have never eaten it, but somehow witness the process in tribal belt of my village. It is a unique way to roast the skin. Typically the age old method that slowly fading away.
My village is in midst of jungle, where many tribes are residing. These tribes are not so backward now, but still relies on traditional technique of living. I have heard from my Dad, about the roasted goat skin. He spent his childhood in this area, so he was pretty aware of these tribal tradition. It was a strange smell that took me to one of the tribal home, who were busy in roasting the goat skin.
Goat skin once peeled off were put into the flame. Here the body skin as well as the peeled skull were getting roasted. These were not cooked in any stove or any utensils. They made a small bonfire 🔥 and like old primitive days, hold on the skins portion with the help of stick. I found it a golden oppurtunity to click some pictures and here they are.
Once the hair were burned in the flame, they were beaten in the grpund with the help of stick to remove them. Then again they use to place the skin portion into flame to roast. It is a lengthy process and the entire area gets smelly. The skin does get softer Once roasted, one of the person tore it and chew with mouth. He found it tempting and had few more pieces. It is not easy for me to digest such roasted meat. But it appears to be of their liking.
They make small pieces of it and then keep it for making their cuisine for the evening. It going to be curry item. It does not invlude any mest pieces but only the roasted skin the skull and the ankle of the goats.
In good faith - Peace!!

I am not sure I have ever had goat before. I have had lamb, but I can't recall the other. I would imagine they are kind of similar?
I never had lamb....so can tell about the meat..but this roasted skin is completely a tribal thing...never seen them before.
Interesting. I would have guessed they were a lot more similar. Perhaps they are not.
