looking up

I was admiring the landscape of my city on a Sunday afternoon, after returning from my girlfriend’s uncle’s house, and along the way I took some photos. Sometimes it’s interesting to think about how the city, in all its urban splendor, shows us different things, and all we need is to look from a different perspective.

I know this city like the back of my hand, but when I looked up, it felt as if I were somewhere else. From inside the bus, on a somewhat melancholic Sunday, the city revealed itself differently, a city seen from the ground up, with its buildings reaching for the sky.

Sometimes, all we need is a simple look at the things already around us, to realize that we don’t know them as well as we think. And now, I’m not just talking about knowing the city, but about everything in our lives.

Estava eu admirando a paisagem da minha cidade em um domingo à tarde, depois de voltar da casa do tio da minha namorada e, durante o caminho, tirei algumas fotos. Às vezes é interessante pensar em como a cidade, em todo o seu esplendor urbano, nos mostra coisas diferentes, e tudo o que precisamos é olhar sob uma perspectiva distinta.

Conheço essa cidade como a palma da minha mão, mas, ao olhar para o alto, parecia que eu estava em outro lugar. De dentro do ônibus, num domingo um tanto melancólico, a cidade se mostrava diferente, uma cidade vista de baixo para cima, com suas construções querendo tocar o céu.

Às vezes, tudo o que nos falta é um olhar simples para as coisas que já estão ali, e perceber que não conhecemos tanto assim. E agora, nem estou falando apenas sobre conhecer a cidade, mas sobre tudo em nossas vidas.
