Bygones, Not Regrets!

Ever since I learned what minimalism is all about, I've always made a conscious effort to let go of things I didn't want/need, not to be too sentimental about things, and also to embrace new beginnings with open arms.

Being a minimalist doesn't only apply to letting go of things you're supposed to let go of. It's more about appreciating the value of things and also letting go of things you still love.
Minimalism doesn't only apply to me throwing away my worn-out clothes and keeping so many good ones. It's also about letting go of the good too. It's also about being free and happy, finding joy in the tiny things, and also being content with or without something you hold dear.

About 6yrs ago, I got this book as a gift back when I was in camp in Port Harcourt. It's a book that holds so many memories for me and giving it away is something I couldn't come to terms with. I was so attached to this book that I would get annoyed whenever anyone picked it up and started reading it because I was scared of it getting torn.

Since it's a book for kids, everyone below the age of 14 wants it. Especially my little nieces and nephews.
About a month ago, my 12-year-old niece came around and was going through my bag where I keep my books and some games. She wanted to play Monopoly and asked where she could find it. I pointed to my bag, and she went there in search of it. And somehow, she saw this book and begged me to give it to her that she would be turning 14 soon, lol. I had to remind her that she was just 12 and she would be turning 13 and not 14 years old.
Well to her she felt like she had to read the book now that she's turning 13 years old, so by the time she turns 14yrs old, her brain is all mature 😂 ( that's according to her explanation hahaha) I couldn't agree more with her, but at the end of the day, I ended up not giving her the book because I was still attached to it somehow.

Her birthday is on the 15th of Nov, and although I won't be around for the party, I would love to give her this book because she needs it more than I do. I'm 22, turning 23 this January, so I won't be needing it anymore; I'm way too old for It now.

I saw Wongi's post, and I screamed in my head because all she said in her post was so me!!! I'm so sentimental!!. I had a box where I kept tiny things, papers, chewing gum stickers, and so on, all for memory's sake. I had the silliest kind of things

I know this question is about the non-minimalist self we missed, but honestly, I'm glad for growth and the fact that I'm learning to declutter in a good way and not just bad things, but also things that are still good but no longer useful to me. Being a minimalist is something I appreciate a lot because I get to see what truly matters.

Are there any non-minimalistic habits I miss? The answer is No! I love the fact that I get to declutter valuable things and, with those things, put a smile on people's faces. I love the fact that I get to see that having more isn't always the best. Minimalism is a game changer for me and I appreciate growth.
