My Actifit Report Card: September 20 2026

Hey there Actifit people. I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend- if it is indeed your weekend. Even if it isn’t; the same applies to you, regardless..

Yesterday was a pretty damn good day for me. Really, everything I could’ve wanted.. at least at the moment. I’ve been getting in the “habit” of getting up absurdly early. Like 4. I really like it; although I put habit in quotation marks because I know myself well enough to know that this changes like three times a month for me. So we’ll see how long it lasts.

Even though I got up at 4, I still somehow barely caught the earliest bus down to Sandy; a full three hours later. And, I was still unprepared. The majority of my morning was spent curled up under the covers reading.. and then completely losing track of time. Seems to be another one of these habits I like to form and let go of.

This bad larry right here is Jack. I’ll get back to Jack, but I just wanted to throw his face in the mix because I couldn’t wait any longer. Before I met Jack, though, I was drowsily making my way over to the bus stop, which just so happens to be the Chevron, when I could just barely make out that the couple by the gas pumps was making eye contact with me and trying to get my attention. I took out my headphone; ”do you know what time they open?”.

RATS. No free coffee this morning. The homie was late to open and I couldn’t risk going in any later than 7:05- these bus drivers don’t mess around. Whatever time they get to a stop- well thats the new schedule. Til the next route, of course. You kinda have to be there waiting at least 10 minutes prior, and be prepared for them to be 10 late as well.

So 7-11 coffee would have to do. I don’t mind; it’s pretty decent and well-priced. Especially when you bring your own mug. The morning guy down at this sevvy seems to like me and always talks to me about skating; so who knows, maybe I’ll end up getting a cup or two for free down here, as well. Plus, as I was leaving, I saw this fucking awesome thing:

I started walking down to the skatepark and decided to give an east coast friend a call. She had called me a couple of days ago while I was working, and I kept forgetting to call her back. Bad timing on my part though; as I rounded the corner and saw an empty park, she clearly was not ready to end the conversation anytime soon. I’m bad at cutting things short, so rather than just tell her I’d call her back like a normal person would, I decided to stay on the phone until the park was no longer empty. A missed opportunity, maybe.. but it wouldn’t be the last.

Jack(the above dog) found me pretty early into the session. He has three legs, and while his brother was more interested in following their dad around, Jack wanted to just hang out with me. It was a pretty good hang; not much with the conversation, but super soft and fun to pet. Plus his tail thumps were oddly comforting.

After a couple of hours of skating, I started heading over to the gym that my work gets me a membership at. I had never been here on a weekend before, and considering it is usually a little too crowded for my taste on the weekdays, I expected it to be packed. It was actually so much more dead. I mean, the gym itself. Lots of kids playing basketball and using the pool. I felt a little bit better about forgetting to bring a bathing suit.

I worked out for about an hour, took a shower, ran some errands while I could kind of use the locker room as a place to rest my belongings, and returned for steps 1-3 again. I really like this place; I wish it wasn’t 25 miles away. Down a hill, no less. Maybe I’ll get a dirt bike or something lmao. I need to pump the brakes on my random hobby desires.

When the time came to drag my stuff back up to the last bus up the hill, I was a little sad, but satisfied with my day. A solid 10 hours down in Sandy, filled with exercise and spending money that will actually save me money in the long run. Buying almost anything up in Govy will set you back.. although, to my surprise, I did find out that a specific corn chowder is cheaper up at the general store than it is at Safeway. An absolute one-in-a-lifetime mistake.

The bus was about half an hour late.. something that actually did make me nervous for once because thats late late.. even for them. I was dreading having to hitchhike back up the hill if they didn’t show up. It was dark and cold by the time I got back to the van, and, satisfied with my day, I curled up and went to bed.
