Did just a little bit of driving to the island today :)
It was a first rainy day in Seattle in more than a month. All the vegetation that is not artificially irrigated has burned out.
I spent some time with a geology professor from the University of Washington talking about the glaciers and how they compacted the ground and how that kind of ground is less impacted by landslides.
Turns out that the normal high bank setback for the house is fifty feet. Anything over a hundred feet is considered really good.
We looked at a bunch of areal maps dating back to 1942, which is when World War two was in full swing. We looked at lidar images and a bunch of other stuff.
Talked about various systems for water runoff dispersion, including dry well and other solutions.
My wife was present for a small part of that conversation, and she felt like she was on the set on Bones show, but for geology.
After I got back home, I also went to PCC Market to shop for some groceries. For some reason, they were out of a bunch of items like Buratta cheese and squash.
It was a very productive day, so I feel a bit tired.

That house is going to have an amazing view!
Yes, it is looking out on Puget Sound, Camano Island, Hat Island and Whidbey Island with Everett in the far far distance.
Driving is really very cool once you get into it well, after a long of those scary thoughts now I'm again buliding up my confidence to drive.
Anyways, Have a good day:)
I am not a huge fan of driving, though this was a scenic drive part of the way and thank you.
Finally, a little bit of rain, my friend!
Looks like itβs back to sunshine now!π
And it is raining again this morning π
I thought I saw that on Doppler radarβ¦β¦π
Sunshine up here, my friend!π
Sounds very complex! It's interesting to me how grocery stores can be out of certain things. It's mind boggling.
Yeah, I felt very rusty on my geology 101 from almost 30 years ago.
Is that so hot to burn vegetation?
Geology, very interesting topic
Hot and dry for a very long time...
