My Actifit Report Card: August 5 2025

Very busy day today, and I started with taking my car for an oil change, transmission service, and transmission mount replacement.

Got a loaner car and drove back home where I worked all day with production deployment at eight in the evening.

Between the production deployment and the end of my work day, we managed to go for a nice walk as a family in the local office park.

We are trying to avoid walking by the water in real parks because this time of the year there are lots of snakes getting warm in the sun, and my wife doesn't like seeing them slither away.

When we got home from the walk, I played with our daughter, giving her rides on my back and building a pillow fort.

She is twelve, and it is the age when she is becoming a young lady, but she is still a child and likes to goof around like we used to.

Our tomatoes are doing well, and more and more are turning red. Though we are eating them much faster than they are ripening. At some point, it switches, and we are unable to keep up with the speed they are going ripening.

So far, we have had early girls, raspberry luana, and celebrity varieties become red. Usually, the pork chop is not far behind, but they are still completely green this year.

Tomorrow is another day at work as well as visiting Whidbey Island and meeting with a geologist to work on a project that we have taken on.

It is going to be an hour and a half drive each way. So I got the car maintenance right in time as I anticipate the mileage I will be driving to go up significantly.

This year is definitely a huge year for me, and it keeps going. Maybe it is just my nature to get into stuff and have a lot going on. There is a saying in Russian that translates as: "The pig will always find the dirt"

I am always reaching for more, and to get something good, it always takes effort. I guess if things were easy, everyone would get everything they wanted, and that just can't work.

So that is why I am always a day late and a dollar short. It always takes a bit extra, and you always have to stretch.

I am getting close to fifty years old, and this is the age where our parents are starting to have serious issues, and even us are starting to experience age related issues.

I think that after this major project, we should slow down for a while and enjoy the ride and what we have accomplished. I wonder if I will be able to do that or if my nature is going to take over and I will get into something new...

The tomato pictures are unrelated, except I view life as a growing project, and it takes time, effort, and dedication to achieve something. But when you finally get there, the results are sweet and rewarding like tomatoe fruit...
