Today I spotted some lichen called Cladonia pyxidata. The common name for this is pixie cups, and they do indeed look like tiny funnel shaped cups. I was aware that you can find them in damp places where moss and other lichens grow.
This patch was actually very close to my home, I just needed to stray off the path a little to find it on an old dead tree trunk.
They are much smaller than they look in the photo so you have to be keen eyed to spot them.
These days a mobile phone camera is so good at taking great shots at even close range such as in my photo. My phone was just a couple of inches away from the subject here. Tapping on the image to get focus and hey presto!

I was wondering what these are, so I had to look it up. It's amazing. I don't even know if I've seen any of these before. Thanks for sharing. Great macro-photography by the way.👍✨
They are very small so you need to look closely at the lichen/moss coverings to see them.
