Well I didn't manage a cycle ride this morning. I was aiming to leave by 7am in order to beat the worst of the heat. I can only put it down to a bad night's sleep due to the heatwave.

I have a great route planned so I'm looking forward to it, but at nearly 30 miles it will need perfect conditions and plenty of time as well.
The heat is causing problems on the rail network. Two derailments have occurred in two days caused by rails buckling under the heat. That is evidence of the extreme conditions this summer.
