Exploring new tracks : My Actifit Report Card: July 29 2026

I checked the weather forecast yesterday and decided to leave for my cycle ride nice and early this morning. It was a lovely cool morning and at about seven o'clock I left home. That was a good strategy, because by noon the temperature was already over 30°.

Before I had even reached the first off-road track, I was stopped by a fallen tree. The whole road was blocked. I managed to climb through with my bike though and carry on my way ok.

The plan today was to explore some new bridalways and tracks but with the heat 🥵 I did not want to be out much past midday. As it happened, the ride was a little over 30 miles, according to my gps watch. I got back at 1pm.

I passed a patch of the dangerous weed Giant Hogweed. It is poisonous to touch, causing burns and blisters. The plants were dying off but very tall at about ten feet!

The tracks that were new to me were very good and there are many more within my reach, so I will be back out there again soon to investigate some more. The track conditions are so good, if a little hard due to little rain but everywhere is passable.
